“A good detective does not need to use tricks or questionable way of capturing their suspects.” Hakuba stated in a matter of fact-like tone. “I would never stoop down to the level of causing harm to a theif who does not harm others. No, I’m sure once I catch Spider, catching KID will be much simpler.”
Hakuba relaxed back in his chair, possibly a bit to much. He reached out to grab the desk, but he was already falling backwards. He had pushed back just a bit too much, and he winced as his head connected with the desk behind him, and the chair slipped out, leaving him on the floor. He reached up a gloved hand towards the bump that was now forming on his head.
The magician turned away slightly, biting back a small laugh at the other’s response. That wasn’t exactly what he had meant, but he supposed it was nice to know Hakuba didn’t intend to do anything harmful to Kid.
Suddenly, he heard a loud thump followed by crash. Kaito blinked in surprise and looked back towards the detective, unable to hold back the laughter this time when he saw what had happened.
It wasn’t often the detective made mistakes like that, after all.
“You okay?” he asked once he managed to get ahold of himself, going over to Hakuba and reaching a hand down to help him up.
