♚ – with a cunning plan
Madison toyed with the edge of the card in her hand, lower lip taken between her teeth. Something about the words written on the card seemed off to her, but she couldn’t quite understand why. “I’ve read th’ dang thing over an’ over, but it still sounds like a trick t’ me. I don’t even know why th’ guy handed it t’ me…”
She gave a nervous look to the magician in front of her and held the card out for him to take. Hours earlier, a man had asked her if she knew anyone by the name of Phantom Thief Kid. Her answer had been a confused no, but the man had insisted that she take the card anyway.
Without thinking, her first thought had been to read what was written on it. It was none of her business what was written on it, but the instructions had sounded vaguely like a magic trick. That in mind, her second thought was to contact Kaito.
If she had known it was plans for a heist, she wouldn’t have handed it to anyone but the police. Instead, she was blissfully unaware of what it was and who she was handing it to.

Kaito had been curious when Madison said she’d been given the card. Especially at the mention that it had been intended for Kid.
Why did he even think she’d be able to get it to the thief?
Well, by some luck, she had managed to do exactly as asked, albeit unknowingly.

“Yeah, that does sound a bit weird…” he commented, taking the paper from her hand and scanning it, “Even if you did know who Kid was, I doubt the guy would’ve actually expected you to say that. Kid is a thief, after all….”
As he read the note, a smirk began to spread on the magician’s face. He didn’t even notice when he spoke the next words softly, but still loud enough for her to hear.
“Hmm… now this is interesting….”
