”A heist…?” Madison gave the piece of paper a look of doubt, though she really didn’t have a reason to believe that Kaito was lying to her. “Why th’ heck did ‘e give me instructions fer a heist…? It’s not like I know Kid personally.”

She frowned and resisted the urge to snatch the paper back and give it another read. If there was a code like he said, then it had flown right over her head. Codes were never her thing — at least, she didn’t think she was smart enough to figure them out.

”What are y’ gonna do with it?” She finally asked after another moment or two of silence, “I mean, it’s fer Kid, ain’t it? And it’s tellin’ y’ how t’ steal somethin’. Maybe we should take it t’ th’ police?”

Now that was the question… Why did the guy give it to her specifically? She technically didn’t know Kid. Kaito, yes, but not the thief. And if he suspected of the magician of being Kid, there were other people that would have been easier to give it to…

Kaito leaned back and put a hand behind his head, closing his eyes. The card twirled absently between his fingers.

“We could. They might not be able to do much, though, since this hasn’t actually gotten to Kid…”

… Actually…

The card stilled and a wide grin spread across his face.

“So… why not see if we can show it to him? It’s not like he keeps what he steals anyway, and I’m sure Nakamouri-keibu would love an extra chance at catching the thief. It’d probably be more useful than just handing the card over.”
