A person from my muse’s past threatens to end your muse’s life unless ours sever ties. Send “Why are you leaving?” to hear the lies/excuses my muse comes up with to leave yours.
Shinichi flinched at the sound of the thief’s voice, wishing to god it had been any one but him to ask. He could lie to just about anyone, had been doing so for so long, but KID wasn’t one of those people. Their entire relationship, of sorts, had been honest (though that didn’t mean there weren’t secrets or things unsaid). And now he was going to have to lie about this, couldn’t let him know.
“Figures you would seek me out upon hearing I’m leaving,” he sighed out, keeping his back to the thief. Maybe he could manage if he didn’t look at him? “I… have a new case I’m being sent on. It’ll take me out of the country.”
He wasn’t stupid and knew KID probably knew what was going on, they had a very similar intelligence and the same-ish habits when it came to protecting people. After all hadn’t KID tried so hard to keep him at a distance just to keep him safe? He tried not to sigh, hands balling into fists. Could he really keep this up?
“I-it’s not my choice,” he offered instead, though whether or not he was tying it to his lie or not was left unknown at the moment. Of course it was his choice, in away. He could have told him what was really going on but…
“It’s not like I want to leave you.”
The thief still didn’t look up, though his hand did relax. If it wasn’t by choice, then the fact that he may be right about this having something to do with a danger. His next words were spoken to where they could barely even be heard.

“…If you’re going to say something like that…”
He took a few steps forward and raised his head to look the detective in the eye. If Shinichi was thinking to protect him, he wasn’t going to be doing it with a lie. If anything, Kid would look into it himself, if the detective wasn’t going to say the real reason. Though, even if he did say, there was no guarantee the thief would stay out of it, either…

“..Then at least tell me the truth.”
