Wait… when did I… get here?

The thief blinked as he stared at the horse insignia on the door in front of him. A torn and tattered cape blew around weakly in the wind, and his suit was looking a bit worse for the wear itself, with much of the right half dyed scarlet. He twisted his body to look back the way he came from, wincing as his arm sent out a wave of pain. Glider, falling, hurt…. nothing much was coming to mind about the specifics or what had happened afterward, but he knew he was currently standing in front of Hakuba’s house with a bleeding and, very likely, broken arm.

Kid slowly faced the door again and almost considered just going off to find a pay phone to call Jii. But the feeling of something warm trailing down his arm told him that, the sooner he could get help, the better.

Sighing, he knocked firmly on the door with his left hand, hoping that the detective wouldn’t be too angry at getting a late night visitor….

Hakuba grabbed the things he needed and slipped on the surgical gloves on and headed back downstairs. He placed the first aid kit down on the table and opening it to take out the stitching equipment, some cream to dull the area and some bandages. He then turned towards the thief and looked over his arm and nodded.

“It’s fine, I was only reading.” He answered and gently took the others arm into his hand, looking over what he could see from here and sighed. “You’re going to have to remove your jacket and shirt, so I can get to this properly. You’ll also probably need a new shirt, I will give you one.”

Hakuba went back over towards his first aid kit and took out some disinfectant and poured it into a plastic cup. He then dropped the needle into it as well as the stitching thread. He poured some over his hands and gloves, just in case. This wasn’t even really about his mysophobia, it wouldn’t be good if any germs got into the wound and caused it to become infected.

“You can keep your hat and monocle on, I have no intention of catching you this way.” Hakuba explained as he turned back towards the other. “But I do need to be able to see the wound without obstructions, and even if you rolled up your sleeve, there is still a chance it could fall back down. Stitching a wound is delicate work.”

He watched as the detective set out all the items, a thought briefly passing through his mind about how often the detective must have done this before, to be able to get prepared so quickly. He frowned, though whether it was because of the idea of Hakuba using the equipment frequently or because he had just moved the injured arm, he wasn’t sure.

The thief nodded at the request to take off the shirt and suit. He had guessed that would need to be done, though Hakuba saying that he’d give him another shirt surprised him a bit. When the other had let him in, he’d been expecting to just have the wound fixed up some and then leave. However, changing out of the blood soaked outfit would be welcome…

The jacket was easy, having only one button, and was soon slipped off while Hakuba was disinfecting everything.

“Trust me, tantei. I know,” Kid said, pulling the tie off and letting it fall on top of the suit. He muttered the next line as he got started on the buttons of his shirt, which was proving a bit more difficult than he’d like, with only one hand, “Not exactly the first time I’ve needed stitches….”
