There was so much blood.
He had to get up, had to warn someone— his numb fingertips twitching as he tried to move, kicking and screaming against the invisible force holding him down. He was going to die he was going to die he was going to—
“Wake up!”
The scientist’s eyes— brimming with tears and fear— jerked open suddenly at the voice, frantically scanning the room before coming to focus on the face before him, his grey eyes widening even further in surprise.
Right. He’d left the window open. Anyone within a mile would hear him screaming bloody murder and go to check.
But this was the second floor.
“…How …Who are you?”
The boy cloaked in white seemed strangely familiar, though he’d never pin it to the one he met a few weeks ago in a million years.
Basil tried to sit up, stopped by hands firmly holding him down, and the position that should have been apparent earlier suddenly cleared his sleep fogged mind.
While his face turned every shade of red the scientist released his own hands— he’d drawn blood— from the other’s wrists, a palm wiping tears off his blushing face, turning his head to the side to avoid eye contact.
“…S-sorry.”
“…Phantom?”
He flicked his eyes back at the white cloaked teen on top of him, eyes widening slightly. That would explain his strange attire but…
Did they mean phantom… a-as in a… g-g-ghost!? Wait, ghosts don’t bleed. And this person was clearly tangible if the weight pinning him down proved anything.
Basil was silent for a minute, just listening to the other’s breathing— far more composed than his own— and in combination with the smile and gentle voice he grew calmer. His heartrate lowered and despite the still fading tinge of his cheeks the blond made eye contact with the other, a corner of his lips twitching slightly up.
“Thank you. Really.”
Those nails that dug into the phantom’s skin would’ve bit his own. They could have very well been his arms, and his blood. And he would have ended up in the hospital.
He bit his lip, glancing at the injuries he’d caused.
“I can bandage them if you want… it’s the least I can do.”
Kid nodded at the thanks, finally backing off of the other to stand a take a step back. The other teen seemed like he’d calmed down quite a bit, so it really wasn’t necessary anymore. He still didn’t move to leave, though he did look a bit worried at the offer for attending to his wrists. On the one hand, the thief really shouldn’t stay for too much longer… But he also wanted to be absolutely sure the blond was completely past whatever had been affecting him. However, the concern was appreciated.

“Ah… Really, it’s not that bad…. I wouldn’t want to intrude for any longer than I have already…”
