”Well, he keeps it in a safe in his office downtown. He’d keep it at home, but he doesn’t trust Carmen enough.” She snorted and rested her cheek in her hand, “He says ‘is office and most ‘a the floor he works on is gettin’ renovated soon, so the place’ll be mostly empty. Unless we’re lookin’ fer a crowd.”

The images she had found of KID were enough to help her assume that, maybe, he was a fan of crowds. Any thief would, if she thought about it — would make escaping easier if there were one-too-many people to check at once.

Groaning lightly, she let her fingers dig into her hair. She hoped all this thinking would do her some good.

“Hmm… a crowd isn’t really needed… The police would guard wherever the necklace would be kept, so if Kid were to come, he’d just disguise as an officer. Though, it would be nice if we could easily gather a lot of people, I suppose. Then maybe you could keep an eye out as well, instead of just relying on him coming to me to get it back. If we did that, we’d need a copy of the card first, of course, so either of us could get Kid the card when we have the opportunity….”

The magician placed an elbow on the table and propped his chin, smiling at Madison.

“‘Course, that would only be if you wanted to do something like that. Otherwise, there really wouldn’t be much of a difference between more people versus just the police.”
