Hakuba placed a napkin in his lap as he heard the door open and he gently grasped his wine glass from underneath, placing the stem between his pointer and middle finger, eyes finally leaving the table to glance at his guest. His gaze ran from the the top hat on his head, down to the monocle on his face, then to the suite and cape, down to the pants and shoes. Yes, he looked every bit Kaitou KID, and this really only solidified his belief, but there would be no arguing tonight.
“The outfit suites you well.” Hakuba spoke before taking a sip of his wine and gesturing to the chair. “Take a seat.” He smiled and placed the glass down. “You may open the box before or after dinner, which ever you choose will be fine with me.” Hakuba reached for his fork and knife, having already said Grace by himself while waiting for the other, though his eyes never left Kuroba.
Inside the box, Kuroba would find three more. One long, one large square and one smaller square, all done up in blue ribbon. Inside the long box would be a gently folded, rather fluffy, cat tail, that was attached to a belt. Inside the larger square box would be a pair of cat ears, fluffy to match the tail, attached to a headband that was dark and would be hidden in his hair.
Finally, inside the smaller box would be a cat collar, blue to match his eyes, with a small bell on it, that would make a very soft ringing sound when the other moved.

“…Thanks for the compliment. I think I’ll wait ‘til after.”
He turned the box in his hands some as pulled the chair back, reaching behind him to pull his cape to the side as he sat down and placing the box on the floor next to him for now. If he was right, he’d rather not see what’s inside yet, and if he was wrong… well, it wouldn’t hurt to see it any later.
Now his eyes finally turned to look at the other directly, not too surprised to find the other staring back. It was likely the detective was thinking of how he knew his classmate to be a wanted thief, and the lack of snide comments was pleasant.
“…I’ll admit, this is a lot nicer than I would have expected…”
Not that I really knew what to expect in the first place, though… And it’s only just begun…
His gaze shifted and a hand reached out to pick up his own napkin and set it in his own lap. He had calmed down since the ‘pet’ situation had first been mentioned…. but it would probably take some time before he was completely at ease, even if he could hide what tension remained behind a mask.
