Damnitdamnitdamnitdamnit!
Kid had known something would probably go wrong then the gem suddenly flashed. And not in the red colour he would have been hoping for. If anything, it had been a sorta dark aquamarine… But that wasn’t important. What was important was the fact that, soon afterward, he could feel his hat shifting as cat ears sprung up and his pants has become uncomfortable as well, with something very furry and a bit familiar brushing against his legs.
It didn’t take long for him to figure out what happened, since this hadn’t been the first time, and he quickly shifted the hat around to cover the ears. He did not need these again. Not that the last time hadn’t been completely unenjoyable… But it had mostly been because Hakuba gave him more attention than normal. Now, he had his detective’s attention. And he didn’t need the ears to cause any trouble with how things were going. If having them before they’d said anything to each other had caused Hakuba to go that far… well, he’d just as soon not have something that makes both of them not think too much about what they’re doing. Might be better to try and leave as soon as possible„„
Click, snap. Click, snap. Click, snap.
Hakuba checked and rechecked the time on his pocket watch, as if that would make the minuets slip by faster. He was waiting on the rooftop for KID to show up, though not for the reason he should. He didn’t see KID as much as he did Kaito, as Kaito was the dominate personality. That meant during heists and for a while after – or when KID surprised him – where the few times he got to see him; he cherished each minuet he could get with him.
Finally the sound of Nakamori screaming reached his ears and he chuckled; KID had stolen the jewel and was on his way upstairs. He spun the pocket watch around a finger before pocketing it and stepping away from the wall, waiting for that familiar flutter of his cape. He’d told Kaito he wouldn’t be able to make it today because of other obligations, but in truth he just wanted to surprise the thief.
Hakuba smirked as he heard the noise he’d been waiting for and made his way towards it. “Looks like you escaped one of his traps yet again, what was it this time; electric fencing along the ceiling and motion detecting floors that would trigger a cage to drop?” He tried to remember what the detective had planned for KID this time around. “I didn’t believe it would work on you,l not tricky enough.”
He turned towards him and smiled. “Surprise.”
The thief froze at the voice, a spike of worry shooting through him as he slowly turned towards the familiar face. Well, there was a bit of pleasure to, that the other had come… But he’d been hoping to just jump and go… Especially since Hakuba was the one person he particularly wanted to avoid right now…

“A-ah… yes…well. As many traps as I’ve been known to set, I’d be in a lot more trouble if I couldn’t think of ways around someone else’s…”
Nervous? Oh yes. Very much so. Not afraid per se… just uncomfortable. On the one hand… Kid very much wanted to show his detective how happy he was that the other decided to give a surprise visit. On the other… Well…
Memories of panic and shock on Hakuba’s face weren’t really the best to have associated with the appendages that were currently wanting to fight against being covered. Nothing should show, unless the hat was removed or the tail pulled out, but the latter still wiggled as much as it could, which was a bit distracting.
“And here I thought you weren’t going to show up, tantei… With that in mind, I’d been planning on departing as soon as I could…So…” The voice was slightly strained, but he didn’t move closer or further, stuck in the middle of feelings and reasoning, looking tense and never taking his eyes off the other.
