The thief had just enough time to catch sight of a black blur jumping up out of the corner of his eye before he was pounced upon. He jerked back reflexively, but just paused and blinked a few times when he saw what had jumped on top of his shoulder.
A…cat?
Well, from what he could see, that was his guess. Though… most cats didn’t have two tails.
…Or a youkai cat. Sure…
Kid waited for a moment to see if anything else would happen before slowly reaching up to pet the creature along its back and pulled his head away slightly to save his hair.
“…Oi… I’m kinda attached to my hair, so it’d be nice if you’d not eat it.”
Kuro purred and rubbed his head under the man’s chin. His tails messing up the undamaged hair.
He tried his best to stay balanced on the small shoulder. His claws coming out slightly to help him stay stable
Well, seems friendly, at least…
The thief allowed himself to relax slightly and smile at the cat, cautiously moving the hand to scratch behind the creature’s ears. Really, it was acting like a relatively normal kitty, if one ignored the twin tails, and the now very noticeable horns, which he may or may not have been mistaking for just some markings on the fur. Hey, it was dark. Totally a good excuse to have not seen them before.
“And just what are you doing out and about at this time of night, hmm? Well, I guess night would be a better time for youkai… But still, don’t think cuddling up to thieves is what you guys normally do.”
…What? Talking to a random demon cat that jumped on your shoulder is perfectly normal. For a thief who’s already had to deal with weird stuff before, at least. At least this one didn’t seem to be out to cause him trouble… Or, you know, kill him. Being killed would be troubling too.
