“Where were you?!”

themoonlightthief:

My muse has been missing for several days. Send “Where were you?!?” For mine to suddenly show up at your muse’s doorstep, in rough shape.

Kaito flinched, just barely managing to stop himself from taking a step back, his gaze shamefully, guiltily, darting off to the side and towards the ground. Maybe this had been a bad idea after all. He knew there would be questions – of course there would be – but he’d hoped against hope and prayed that his other self would, at the very least…

…He wasn’t quite sure how to finish that. And, in all honesty, it didn’t really matter at the moment anyway, did it?

Swallowing thickly, he opened his mouth, then closed it again, hesitating, before glancing back up towards the thief again. And the expression that met Kaito only made the guilt and utter selfloathing grow to the point that he felt like he might just throw up.

“Ah, I…”

A thin, weary smile curved at the corners of his lips and a bloody hand selfconsciously tugged the equally bloody and dirty sleeve down his other arm and Kaito chuckled, quietly, tired indigo eyes flickering away once more.

“I went to buy chocolate and got lost on the way home…?”

There was the barest sound of a breath of relief coming from the magician as the thief complied with his request and once more, he found himself relaxing, if only slightly.

Kaito closed his eyes and took another breath. And then his fingers finally started working on the buttons of his shirt. It took him a lot longer than he was willing to admit, the nervousness making his hands frustratingly clumsy, slipping over and awkwardly fumbling with the buttons, but being spared that extra pair of eyes did help, just a little.

His shirt slid from his shoulders and the warm air in the bathroom hitting his back and the scars there, crisscrossing from his shoulders and further down, below the waistline of his pants, made him shiver and he swallowed hard against the sudden lump in his throat. He could do this. He could.

The magician dropped his shirt on the sink, then started working on his pants, his eyes occasionally, uncertainly, flittering towards the thief.

He wasn’t looking.

Shoulders relaxing in another small wave of relief, Kaito made quick work of the pants, stepping out of them and throwing them over his shirt. His socks followed and then he hurriedly grabbed one of the towels and wrapped it around his waist, just high enough to cover the ‘1412’ etched into his hip.

The thief still didn’t turn, even as he heard the magician’s clothes start to be set to the side, though he did pause before continuing with his own work, going a little slower than normal due to the need to be occupying himself with a task at the moment. The shirt slid off his shoulders, placed on top of the jacket, followed by his gloves. Another reason unbuttoning may have taken longer than normal, possibly.

“Is the ‘gentleman’ allowed to turn back yet, magician-san?~”

Kid’s head tilted lightly as he removed his socks before getting started on the pants, with a slight hesitation, since he’s still not quite used to undressing with someone else there, even if that ‘someone’ was himself, to a degree.
