(Internet came back at random again ten minutes ago, and I just finished the movie. Only thing I’ll say out of read more is… HA! I ACTUALLY GOT THE CULPRIT RIGHT FOR ONCE AND I COULDN’T EVEN UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY WERE SAYING AT ALL.
…So, spoilers and such below now, I just had to get that out, rare as that is for me.)
(In more detail, watching and hearing Korean voices was weird, but alright. Still got the tone of what was being said, and the animator’s cues for what to note were great help. And before watching, I knew two things: Kidichi and Jii is involved in all of this somehow. That was literally it, aside from what the trailers made clear.
Got only the gist of everything happening at the beginning, exposition and set up and action packed as it was, don’t know why everything was happening or what the plan was. Kid showed up at random, pretended to escape, appeared as Shinichi and got trusted enough to be allowed on the plane. And I’ll admit, the motive behind all of this, I don’t know for multiple reasons. Main ones being: I don’t know Korean, even in hearing it, at all. And the torrent didn’t have sound after a point, including over where Shinichi was pointing out the criminal and proof and reasons and mistakes.
I did know the big guy wasn’t bad, because he was so obviously off in the beginning to me that I was starting to wonder if they meant for us to find him suspicious, or if it was a double red herring or such and he’d really be a part of the painting stealing. …I still don’t know his role, but after he set Conan at a computer, I just went: ..Nope, he’s not the baddie. Still weird, but he’s alright, I like ‘im well enough.
Then I went: …But if he’s not evil, that lady is. Why? …She’s been the only one to have some things stand out. Immediately took note of what her laptop looked like on the plane, sine it had the sunflowers. And I did notice she was the one to point out and pick up the Kid note when they were packing up a painting. That, and the later scene with the ‘bodyguard’ guy looking though what I knew was her laptop just made me go: …Yep, fairly certain now. (And thus, every time I saw the shadow person, I went: Lady. Lady, stop that right now >:V )
On the bodyguard subject, I did wonder if he was Kid at first. Then I saw ‘Shinichi’ again and ‘hmm…. no, that one has to be Kid. So bodyguard is… either someone else involved, or Jii, since I know he’s in this’. *sees crying at seeing the old woman* ….Probably Jii. Yeah. Makes sense, he later went to do something Kid told him to later, so yeah.
…Couldn’t follow the actual plot or motives worth much, aside from Jii and the old lady seeing that guy in the fire and having a personal connection to that painting. Did guess that the guy with the stubble was involved before he acted, still don’t know his part in the story, and just knew when I saw him in cuffs I said ‘…Wait, no, he’s not the one who set the place on fire, it was that lady, I know it. …Besides talking, what did he do? He didn’t try getting rid of the painting in the plane, since we later learn that was the lady again, and Kid stopped that, she also messed with the electricity and set the place on fire, so…? Couldn’t hear anything (sound cut at the electricity going off), so I couldn’t follow much with just the pictures.
…Also knew that riddle before the movie even came out, and was Ayumi really the only one to get that because jeez. I’m not Japanese and don’t know much and I knew the answer to that so easily.
…That’s about it, just feeling proud by what I was able to pick up on despite being in the dark as to the plot up until they’re in the cave gallery part. Slowed down enough that I managed to keep up there. Though the extra was the gun guy got bumped off my suspicion list entirely at using the bowl for the fire, you go dude. And learn to always listen when an animal tells you something’s up, people. They’re right more often than you.)
