Hakuba frowned, a little bit angry now, because ow he felt pressured, and like he was being guilt tripped. “You know things make me uncomfortable, I thought you’d accepted thing like that by now, and that you’d respect my boundaries, and making me dress up in feminine clothing to ‘hang out’ with someone I am not fond of counts as that, so if you want to sulk, fine, but don;t guilt trip me.” and with that he stalks off.
Yes, he had been guilt-tripping a bit, but he’d mostly just been being honest. He was fairly hurt himself that the other couldn’t set aside his dislike of Hattori at all to do something that could be fun, and it wasn’t as though he never pushed boundaries. If he didn’t… well, he would even have some of the things he’d gotten by trying. But he also meant when he said he wouldn’t force Saguru, and felt a little guilt in return as the other got angry and walked away. Kid’s not going to say anything, it’d probably just make things worse right now, but he’ll leave a purple hyacinth in apology later.
“If it was just us, then maybe, but no. I will not, final answer.”
”…Fine then. I just thought it’d be something fun and innocent to do, since a thief and tanteis can’t interact much outside of heists, but if you’re so set against it, I won’t force you to either. Sorry for pestering you so much, tantei.“
“…Please?” He still doesn’t see a reason he couldn’t help make Hakuba more comfortable with the idea if he has to, and he’s been nothing but patient and using as much rational argument as he can, you should be proud, tantei.
“If it was just the two of us, it may be a different story, but I have no wish to walk around in feminine clothes in front of that brute.”
"He wouldn’t really be able to act like a ‘brute’ if he’s in a kimono. And he’d be dressed up, so if he started giving you a hard time, you could comment right back. It’d be no different than how you two normally act, you’d just be in different clothes.”
“The fact I would be uncomfortable is not enough for you?”
“…It might be, if it’s not something I could help make you comfortable with… Like I said, you wouldn’t be alone, no one has to recognise you… Is it just wearing the clothes themselves? Because I’m sure we could find something you’d feel okay in… Ones that are like suits, even.”
“I don’t care if anyone can reconize me, that’s not the point. The answer is still no.”
“So what is the point? Because it’s very little consequence to you, it’d get me off you back about it, and I’ve already given my reasons I want you to. So are there more reasons for you saying no than to just be stubborn about it?”
