(Thank You! ❤ *all these hugs be goin’ round* …Not that it should surprise anyone at this point.~

…All of you be sayin’ descriptions, and I honestly think that’s one of my worser points, considering I feel like I do more what Kai acts on than anything else. I mean, I try and set up so that what I can see in my head for what’s happening gets across, but I feel like I rarely ever actually describe much else… Well, sometimes I do. Inconsistently. I think. Hmm…..)

The thief was always welcome to stay longer, that would never change. He enjoyed his presence a lot and it helped to keep him grounded. But then he also wasn’t sure if it was the thief himself or just having someone around.

Enjoying the presence of said thief, despite his previous joking aside. He moved into the mindset of making them coffee once it was finished, a large black cup for himself and one for KID. Though he would let the thief fix up his own coffee however he wished, as that was something else he had yet to learn about the white clad magician.

“Yes, yes, I understand” he replied absently with a wave of his hand, taking a large drink of the coffee he’d poured himself. “I know it’s not good to only live on coffee, and lord knows you aren’t the only one after me to eat better.”

If he was bothered by the slight scolding he showed no signs of it. Even his tone seemed unbothered and casual about it. “I have gotten better about eating during the day, if it makes you feel better. But I really don’t have time or energy to cook or shop with how much I do in a day.”

He glanced up to the thief and smiled. It wasn’t a particularly strong smile, after all he was still a bit raw from opening himself up some to him. “I’m fine. I promise.”

He wasn’t really but KID had his own problems to worry about this the added problems of an unstable detective.

Kid was of half a mind to just take the coffee black, as awkward as he still felt being here, casual manner aside. However, he eventually decided he wasn’t going to sacrifice his taste buds just because he wanted to keep up thief appearances. Not when he really didn’t have to, especially after all that had happened.

So when Shinichi raised his cup to start drinking, he moved to get creamer and sugar, as well as a spoon, all of which he’d come across in searching for any signs that the other actually did have something he could subsist on, and brought them over and put them next to his cup before taking a seat. Of course, he was still listening as he mixed in enough of the two into the dark drink to make coffee purists sick with how sweet he was making it, though he really would have been happier if he had milk or honey to use instead, since they worked better for him.

Yeah, though he could drink practically any type of coffee, if given the choice, it quickly becomes obvious he has a bit of a sweet tooth.

He did look up while he was stirring, returning the detective’s smile with a soft one of his own. Years of Poker Face let him be able to show it, though it wasn’t as though there was no actual warmth to the grin. The part that wasn’t as genuine was just being used to hide the concern he still had over Shinichi’s eating habits, since that could be addressed later…. but he did make a mental note to at least get some food that could be stored for long periods of time to fill up at least some of the space. If only to make himself feel a bit better about it.

Though… he did worry that the eating habit wasn’t simply limited to being busy with detective work. Shinichi might be saying he’s fine, but…

No. Mental head shake. Some people actually mean when they say that… Just because I don’t doesn’t necessarily mean anything…

…But he wasn’t even believing his own arguments that the detective was okay. Kid knew he probably shouldn’t be drawing on their similarities to make the assumption that the other was lying to him right now….

He just felt like something wasn’t quite right. Probably because he’d said those exact words last night.

I’m fine.’

The thief stopped stirring the bitter-gone-sweet drink and stared at it for a while before finally removing the spoon.

“…Tantei-kun. Do I need to repeat your own words back to you?”

He took a small a sip from the cup, small smile never quite leaving, though it did turn slightly more sad. No, he wasn’t actually going to wait for an answer to that. Kid may have been wanting to avoid mentioning anything that had happened, but he really didn’t want to have Shinichi possibly trying to shut him out like he had tried to do.

A sigh. He really shouldn’t think so much about things. Especially not this early.

I doubt you’re fine. …But I’m not really one to talk, I suppose…”

The teen blinked wearily as the door opened, eyes going wide as he saw the detective. He turned so that his back was to the Hakuba, hoping the other hadn’t seen the wetness on his face…. Though he most likely had…

“…I had nightmare,” he said, wincing at the hoarseness in his voice.

Hakuba shifted when he felt the other move, wondering what he was doing; even with his eyes adjusted, it was hard to see him amidst the darkness. When he felt him finally settle he relaxed a little himself. The pondered some things over in his head before he started to hum. It was a soft, almost like a lullaby. It was something his mother used to sing to him when he went to sleep. He always found it relaxing when he was younger, and he hoped it would help Kuroba fall asleep.

Kaito hadn’t really moved much from where he had been. Maybe a bit closer to Hakuba, but it wasn’t by much, since he’d just been trying to get comfortable when he’d been settling. The covers had pulled down slightly when the other sat down, but the brunet hadn’t really cared, too busy being taken aback when the detective had complied with his request in the first place.

And he was surprised again when the other started humming, since he’d just been expecting the detective to sit in silence, or at most, start telling more stories again.

But it was a pleasant surprise.

The magician gave a soft, short hum and smiled. It really didn’t take nearly as long as he’d been thinking it might for him to fall asleep, breath evening out and muscles he hadn’t even been aware were still tense relaxing as he did.

Hush~

Hakuba sighed at the tease, because of course he would. He rolled his eyes and was about to roll over and end the conversation when his name was called. He tilted his head towards the other and waited for him to continue.  He was taken back by the request and opened his mouth to state just what he could do with it, but he stopped when he continued. He frowned and looked down at his hands as he thought it over.

He knew that nightmares always seemed to ease when there was someone else in the room, but they were already both in the room. Maybe it was about what the dream itself entailed, that caused him to want the comfort of another being in bed with him. He chewed on his bottom lip and looked from the bed to his hands before closing his eyes and getting to his feet.

It wasn’t like he had to lay down, he just had to sit there until Kuroba fell asleep. So he got onto the bed, feeling it dip under him. He pulled his legs up and placed his back against the headboard.

“Just until you fall asleep.”

He’d almost been certain the other would say no. And it wouldn’t have been surprising, really. So, even though he’d been the one to ask, he was a still a bit confused when Hakuba did move back over to his bed, though it didn’t last for too long. His eyes softened as he looked up and smiled at the detective gratefully, because, yes, the weight did make him feel better. Not enough to put him completely at ease, but felt much better than being alone, in a way, even if he knew the other would have just been in the next bed over.

“…Thanks.”

Kaito remained curled up around the pillow as he let his eyelids fall shut again and shifted a bit until he was more comfortable before settling.

KID was standing in his kitchen.

Having effectively stopped dead in his tracks at the sight of the white clad thief, he stared at him a bit stupidly while he tried to process what he was seeing. KID was standing in his kitchen and making coffee.

Whenever the thief stayed he was gone by the time he woke up. So to see him standing there was… He turned to head back out of the door way.

“I’m going back to bed."

No he was kidding. The smell of coffee was too tempting.

Turning back around he moved to go and pull down some cups, in case KID wanted some too, before sitting down at the island. He wanted to ask why he was still there, why he hadn’t left, but he was so afraid the thief would do as such.

"I feel like I should apologize for the lack of food in my cabinets,” he said instead. It was best, he felt, to not bring up the previous night. Maybe let the thief do as such instead.

Oi, oi…

Actually, he wasn’t sure whether to be offended or not that the detective would be so shocked at seeing him still in the house as to possibly just go back to bed and pretend the thief wasn’t really there. Especially since the other had been the one to mention the possibility of Kid still being here in the morning.

Well, he didn’t debate it for too long, when Shinichi went to go get cups, a bit surprised when a second one was pulled out. Kid hadn’t really been intending on having any of the coffee himself, since he could function just fine after he made himself get out of bed ninety-five percent of the time. On the other hand… It would likely help with the headache…

And just the simple action of pulling out two cups, to him, meant he was welcome to be here a bit longer.

The thief couldn’t help bit give a silent sigh of relief at that, and the fact Shinichi hadn’t commented about what had happened last night. He knew the other was probably still curious, especially since that was the reason he was standing in the detective’s kitchen in the first place.

But he wasn’t going to willingly discuss it himself either, if the other wasn’t going to bring it up. Not actively avoid the topic either, but he just kind of wanted to ignore it for as long as possible.

Kid shifted his weight some as he waved a dismissive hand at the mention of apologising.

“It’s fine. Not me you should apologise to for that anyway, considering your stomach is the one that has to deal with a barren kitchen…. Really, tantei-kun, coffee is not a food group…”

Ok, he’d told himself he wouldn’t scold… but he couldn’t help it.

“Again, it’s appreciated, regardless.”  Hakuba laughed, voice still nervous in tone as he sat up again. It wasn’t as though he mistrusted the thief, either, but as flirtatious as they were, there had never really been any sort of define the relationship discussion.

He reached for the duvet at the end of the bed, exposing his naked back briefly, then dragged it around himself to preserve some sense of modesty as he slipped from the bed, heading for the closet.

“Now be a gentleman and turn around."

The thief chuckled some at the command.

"Implying that I’m somehow not a gentleman?”

He did comply, however, shifting to face away from the other. Not that he wouldn’t have turned anyway. After all, Kid was already a gentleman, so of course he would have been courteous enough to not look, right?

Right.

…Maybe.

Honestly, much as he liked to tease, Kid did try and stay within boundaries. Push them from time to time as needed and when he knew he could get away with the pushing, but this wasn’t the best situation to do that. Hakuba already felt awkward, and it really would be rude to purposefully heighten that feeling right now. Especially since he was the one who’d come uninvited and he didn’t know Hakuba well enough to be aware of how far the limits were.

Heck, the thief wasn’t even aware of all that he’d put up with himself, where the detective was involved, much less how far the other would tolerate… Teasing was normal, and the flirting, fun… and he did like the other teen well enough now, considering he’d calmed down quite a bit since the first time they’d met. He just… really wasn’t sure about much else at this point.
