(…So… MK 1412 is over… and…)

(Oh my god! That bit towards the end was the most I’ve laughed at this whole series~ Kaito…. Aoko you… Yes. Just… yes!~ It was a great episode overall, but I almost want that to happen in the manga too, now.)

(*already starts missing it* …Aww, that means it’ll be my last screenshotting for a while, too… *puts up a shrine to Kid for season two*)

(Was it just me, or was episode 16 really bad? I mean, I looked at the tag for MK already, I know it’s not just me, but…Then we have some saying it was good. And I don’t normally mind most things, so some that are bad I don’t notice…

But no, this one… no. Some parts were nice. I’m glad the jukebox came back after it’s been gone a while, and I liked seeing Kaito’s reactions to being challenged… And I liked the explosion part just as much as I did in the DC episode.

…But past that, no. Pacing was horrible, everything though the planning felt rushed, the heist itself was a confusing montage of what happened with no explanation until it feels like they give half the episode to Conan to explain what Kaito did for the heist. And… as I have seen the tags, and I noticed myself, this was supposed to be Jirokichi’s appearance. But we’ve had the Ryoma heist already, so it doesn’t make sense, unless this is supposed to be some weird way of doing a flashback and not telling us. I love this heist in the DC anime, and its clips, even if we don’t have it from Kaito’s perspective, and I’d probably never choose MK1412 to show the heist. Except the first reaction part.

Just… wow. I actually find it hard to dislike things, so when I say something’s bad… Ya done messed up. Especially if it involves Kid.)

(Okay, I’ve been trying to catch back up on 1412 screenshots for my own sanity, so this is late, but…)

(May I just say good job A-1 on this, because this is the face Kaito made after Phillip told them about the promise he made to his dad and how his mother acted towards him. Considering Kaito’s relationship with his own father, this face seems very appropriate.)

(Okay, I’ve been a bit slower getting through screen-shotting all of 1412 ep 7, but… umm…)

(One thing…)

(Just…)

(…I hope I’m correct in assuming that it’d be the date here… But… umm… anime staff… Why this date!? Really? It had to be this date? The day after Kaito’s own birthday? I question your decisions so much right now. So much judging.)

(Ok, and now that I’ve actually finished the episode.. Yep, still like it~ Managed to include the things I liked about both of Hakuba’s appearances~ No offense Spider, but I did want to see the ice skating failures and the competitiveness over Aoko, so…

Also, I’m much happier than I should be at that preview. For the simple fact that I saw blood, which was one thing I kinda wanted to see in Akako’s first appearance.)

(And the wrench is there too.~ Very much liking the more manga adaptation for his first appearance~ Especially since I actually hated Spider to begin with when he first appeared in the specials because I was a bit irritated at not being able to see Kaito fall flat on his face on the ice. I got over it, though.)

(Okay, I’m back for a moment to post opinions on the first episode.~ There will be spoilers for certain parts, so don’t read if you haven’t seen.)

(First impression: The character models. They… overall, they’re fine, but they sometimes look so awkward. And I feel like they’re missing putting expressions in when there’s supposed to be something there… They also definitely look better when they’re moving, in my opinion. Not that they look bad when still, but if it looks awkward, it’s more noticeable if it stays there for more than half a second. Also, Jii wasn’t as bad as I feared. Nakamori looks off more often than not to me, and they changed Toichi some. But Toichi’s changes were okay. Chikage got a new look, too, which I’m pretty neutral about.

Second impression: Didn’t notice anything too strange about the voices, though we haven’t heard all of them yet. I’m no expert on voice, but I think Aoko’s VA does well. Kappei’s great, but I wasn’t worried about him. Nothing else stood out voice-wise, other than what I mentioned about the animation on the faces not quite matching how it sounds at times.

Random opinions: I approve of Kaito and Aoko living close, though literally being able to talk to each other from outside the window is a bit much… It’s fine, and I overall like it, but I’m probably a bit biased against it for RP purposes, since Kai being alone is a big part of his character. It’s nice that they made it feel more like he has someone to go to in the anime, though.

The painting reveal I loved, though still might’ve liked the actual closet-from-the-wall thing they did in the specials. Jukebox is a nice touch, and I liked it better than the cassette tapes. Certain parts I definitely felt were treated better in the specials, such as Kaito asking about Toichi and his response afterward. They didn’t do the whole martian thing, which I am perfectly happy with, since they actually treated the classroom scene more like the manga, with Kaito smooth-talking his way past the teacher.

….Severely disliked the Toichi death part. Really, majorly. Not even taking into account my headcanon, it just doesn’t seem as forboding that they show that, nor does it have as much impact, honestly. Yes, he’s still ‘gone’, but it doesn’t carry the same weight as not knowing exactly what happened… (I say gone, because I’ve honestly questioned it from fairly soon after entering the fandom, because I always assumed it was an escape trick that went wrong, and that there was no mention of an actual body… My mind likes keeping people alive, anyway, until proven dead.)

Heist was mostly the same, though a bit more rushed, and…. DARK CAPED TOP-HATTED FIGURE, WTH?!!? Is that the same person from the newer manga chapters, and, if so, why are they here already?!

*ahem* Fish phobia reveal was funny, and more ‘warm’ than in either the specials or manga, since it was actually in Aoko’s house and she’d invited him over for dinner. Really do appreciate that, since, while she’s still poking at the phobia, it doesn’t feel quite as bad.

And in conclusion, still prefer the specials, but the anime isn’t as bad as I was worrying it might be. Also, little Kai is adorable. That is all.)
