“Well, I’ve been described as a dove on multiple occasions… I think it’s fitting, though if you want something different… Hmm… A fox or a cat of sorts might work as well.”

(Not sure I’m the best for advice, and I think kuroba-k gave a good answer to your question, but I guess I don’t mind offering my own input.~ Not as nice and neat and to the point, though…)
(First thing for any RP blog would be know the rules and basic manners of rp, such as no godmodding, coming into something like a relationship is already in place, etc. Might not be relevant to you specifically, but have to get that out of the way to start just in case.
Second: Know your character. Those might just be my thoughts on him, and you don’t have to go into near as much detail, but at least have read the manga. You don’t have to know every single little detail, but knowing how he’d react to most situations, even ones he might not be used to, help. Every interpretation of him is slightly different as well, depending on how you view why he does certain things, so to get the best idea for your Kaito… well, just ask questions, really. And answer them. Make headcanons. What do you consider the title of Kid to be to him? He was clearly attached to his father, but how much did Toichi being gone really affect him? Do you think his normal personality as Kaito is real, or another act? Is what you want him to do more along the lines of the somewhat more believable recent MK, or back to the slightly more insane comedy manga chapters, where anything can happen and magic might run rampant? Is he lonely, how much attention does he need? Has he matured at all, or is he still the jerk who peeks in the girls locker rooms? Does he really follow guides to make sure no one gets hurt, or does he just not get violent in general? There are numerous possibilities that could change from Kaito to Kaito, which is why there are so many. He’s a complex character, not difficult to play, but has so many different ways of looking at him that there isn’t actually any set way.
I do think kuroba-k made good points on him as a character and how to treat him in general, so I’ll leave theirs for that, but I do want to say one thing. Kaito is fairly social, but can also retreat, fall back and be quiet when he needs to. He’s a character that’s fairly open to interaction in comparison to others, so really, things like knowing where he’d be, what he might be doing, is he shopping or staking out for a heist or coming home from school really go far in rping him.
Of course, I just knew the manga and had the character in my head when I made this blog, without much else going for me, so I can also say that, even if you don’t have the clearest idea, if you know the character, they’ll grow. You get the most solid grasp when they start interacting with others, so just… I lost the point I was trying to make there, but really, don’t feel like it’s hard, I guess. ^^; )
*magic poof*

“The heck? I didn’t even steal anything this time…”

(Oooh, what to pick? I fall in with the other Kaito mun and say most I have are from amvs… Or my own amv ideas. Hmm… Well, I don’t care if it is from one, Angel With a Shotgun by The Cab will always make me think of Kaito. Hmm… Dangerous to know by Hillary Duff, Fences by Paramore, No apologies by Bon Jovi… To a far extent, Jack’s Lament from the Nightmare Before Christmas, though that’d need to be interpreted to get it across…)

“…”
He’s just going to reach behind him and take that off with a sigh, not even bothering to look at it.
“Kuroba is out at the moment, but I’ll be sure to pass this along to him later.”

“…”
He goes to look something up, then comes back with a piece of paper.
As the Fifth Doctor once explained to Turlough, parallel universes were a specialised form of alternate universe — “alternative universes [that existed] in parallel with each other” — but the terms weren’t complete synonyms. A parallel universe had no impact upon another parallel universe; it was “separated only by a millisecond of time and a nanometre of space, without ever having contact.” Conversely, a fully alternate universe was when, because of the inherent weakness at the point that one universe split from the other, one timeline actually destroyed the other. “See? Even with that, tantei-kun and I shouldn’t know each other if he’s technically in my other self’s universe…”

“A bit more clever than I’d expect from that joke, I’ll give you that. Using Kaito instead of Kaitou for the play on words… Though… it does make me wonder if I should hold a heist as a Kaitou kid as well… I’m sure the police would have a hard enough time trying to figure out if it’s real or fake after seeing how I look. Might be one of the easier heists I do~”
At least if tantei-kun didn’t show up. Or tantei-han, for that matter. They might be a little too used to small people not being what they appear…
“Little… wait, what?”
The thief blinked and took half a step back before a spasm tore through him, causing him to gasp and double over in pain.

What the he-?
Another wave of pain forced his eyes closed and he fell to a knee, though it wasn’t too long before he lay down on his side, hands clenching his arms as he curled into himself and gasped for air. Oh kami, was this seriously what tantei-kun felt like when he shrank? It felt like his blood was boiling from the inside and his all of his muscles were pulling him at once. Kid didn’t even notice the steam coming out where it could from under his clothes as he tried to block out everything that currently hurt, but he eventually became too much and his body released it’s tension as he lost consciousness, curled up under his cape and unaware as his clothes slowly sagged around his shrinking form and the monocle fell off of his face.

“Actually being a girl? Hmm… I wouldn’t think I’d do too much different than when I simply disguise as one… Might take the opportunity to freak a few people out, but it’s not like I’d try doing anything too different from normal.”
Really, the only thing he’d do that’d be specific to the gender change would be to… examine the chest a bit. No, he won’t do anything further in experimenting with being female, but c’mon. It’d be too strange suddenly having real breasts to not even do anything at all. But really, beyond that, there’s not much else… Though, that ‘tricking people’ may include convincing people he has a twin. And it’s not like they could deny that he wouldn’t be in disguise, then~

“…Well, I should hope no one would… But then I may have to ask which one? Because idenity-wise, Hakuba’s fairly well certain, and Nakamori-keibu has suspected… But no one can do anything in that area without proof… I mean, I can play the plausible deniability game for as long as it takes. So I assume you mean Pandora and Snake? Because for that… I’m not sure, really. Even if they learned about it, I wouldn’t want them getting directly involved. …Though I’m fairly sure all of them would want to… maybe not Aoko, but… Really, tantei-kun has enough problems on his own, and Hakuba should stick to trying to catch me. Same for Nakamouri-keibu. And all of this is assuming they don’t outright try and kill me for dealing with this without telling anyone… The Nakamori’s would probably not speak to me for a good time afterward, the tanteis I could see starting to investigate more and sticking their noses into places they don’t belong even more than they do already… And I’d probably need to avoid them more in case they start trying to get more involved with me directly… Really, it’s just better for secrets to stay secret, as things are…”
