[ooc, and I only really gave names because I sent them on Hatt’s account XD plus they both wanted to know what you’ve been listening to lately.]
(I’dve known it was you either way. Haku could’ve always visited Heiji’s blog to ask. …Maybe. But bit disappointing to know I tend to just listen to the same things over and over, adding more songs to the list as I find them. So it’s not like there’s too much a difference from ‘lately’ and, say, a year ago. :V Maybe a difference of ten songs… Unless I tug at the amv folder of songs that aren’t on my playlist, then there’s a difference. V: )

“You better take it from me.
That boy is like a disease
You’re running, you’re trying, you’re trying to hide
And you’re wondering why you can’t get free
He’s like a curse, he’s like a drug
You get addicted to his love
You wanna get out, but he’s holding you down
‘Cause you can’t live without one more tooouuuuch…
He’s a, a good time, cowboy casanova
Leaning up against the record machine~
Looks like a cool drink of water
But he’s candy-coated misery
He’s the devil in disguise~
A snake with blue eyes~
And he only comes out at night…
Gives you feelings that you don’t want to fight
You better run for your life…”
The thief jerked and his eyes slowly regained their focus. His mind was still clouded, but it was quickly fading, and it wasn’t too long before he became aware of what was going on around him again.
And to have the detective’s face not to far from his own was surprising to see, to say the least.
“…T-tan..tei?”
Kid tried to raise a hand, blinking when he found resistance. His eyes glanced up and he noticed the other’s hands on his wrists, suddenly becoming very aware that there was quite a bit of weight on him as well. He didn’t push the other away, however. Confusion was the only thing really going through his head right now, and he was trying to figure out what had happened, not even aware that he was relaxing as his mind was returning.
“Why….”
When KID finally started to wake, Hakuba let out a sigh of relief. He was panting himself, the thief was strong, and he’d had to put all of his weight on him just to keep him still. He’d also taken an elbow to the cheek, which was probably red with irritation. He was going to have to clean it thoroughly later, but that didn’t matter at the moment. The adrenaline and fear for his safety and KID’s had kept his mysophobia in check.
“KID.” He replied, trying to even out his breaths. “You’ve finally snapped out of it I see.” He could feel him trying to lift his arms, but he kept them down, wanting to be sure he wouldn’t slip back into what ever had happened before again.
“You became violent. I don;t know why, but you were a danger to yourself, and me. I had to struggle to get you to the floor, you elbowed me in the face, and I had to pin you down with all my weight just to keep you from hurting me or yourself anymore.” Hakuba sighed and slacked his grip a bit, shifting his weight so it wasn’t fully on the other. “Are you yourself again?”

“I think so…”
The thief breathed a little easier after the other shifted, though his heart still raced in his chest. He’d been violent? Really, all he could remember right now was feeling afraid and trapped… Though, now that he’d woken up and actually had some restriction on him… Kid couldn’t really feel the fear. Maybe a slight wariness returning, with the detective this close, but he didn’t fight against the hold again right now. Whatever had happened, he wanted to get calm just as much as Hakuba likely wanted him to. It… hadn’t been the most pleasing feeling to have, so he was fine with the other holding him down to keep it in check at the moment.
Kid did look up at the detective’s face, though, focusing on the reddened area before his eyes flicked down slightly.
“…I suppose I should thank you for stopping me, if I was that out of hand. And I apologise for hurting you, tantei.”
Hakuba watched as Kuroba looked over the egg. He seemed interested, and he allowed him to pull it closer. He was actually a bit nervous. Eggs were fragile, and what if Kuroba still didn’t believe him? Hakuba could have made all of this, though his artistic skills weren’t that great. It would still be possible, at least the egg. The container itself was a bit more difficult.
“Not very often. It’s normally special occasions.” Hakuba finally reached into his pocket and pulled out the pokeball there and placed it on the table. “Rangers are only allowed one partner, but when I went there, I was at the lab. That’s where I met foxy.” He smiled down at the pokeball. “She was a Fennekin. Fire fox pokemon. She liked to snack on twigs.” He shook his head to clear his thoughts.
“I helped out a ranger who was trying to save a sick pokemon. The owner gave him the egg as a gift, but because a ranger can only ever have one partner, he couldn’t accept it; so he gave it to me. After I touched the egg, I returned home.”
Kaito hummed as he listened, glancing over at the ball the detective put on the table, then at Hakuba. While all of this sounded strange… The other wasn’t exactly the type to lie. Or go to such lengths as to make something believable. At least not out of the blue like this. And…

…He’d rarely ever seen the detective look at something with so much love. More than any of the physical evidence the other teen was showing, the expressions and how he spoke about this Pokemon world were far more telling…
The magician turned his attention back to the egg. Because it was probably the biggest thing pulling at his curiosity right now. If he believed Hakuba, which is was, for the most part, then this contained the most mysteries, barring how the other had gone to another world in the first place. This egg brought him back to this one. And everything about it was unknown, aside from how it came to be in the detective’s hands in the first place.
Not that there was much he could do with it, other than look. And other than how large it was and the spots, there didn’t seem to be anything noteworthy about it… Though, a part of him wanted to touch the egg itself, hold it. Kaito wasn’t entirely sure why. Maybe because contact with heat might help it hatch, if it could even do that in this world?
…Or maybe he just wanted to see if anything would happen if he did touch it. If the egg brought Hakuba back here, maybe it could also go back to the world he’d visited?
Regardless of his thoughts and desires, the brunet just turned the container around one last time before carefully pushing it back towards Hakuba some, ignoring the fact that his fingers twitched slightly. It was an egg, it possibly had something in it, and it had been put under Hakuba’s care. Wasn’t something he should interfere with.
“…Sounds like a nice place, honestly. Having Pokemon to help out and stay with you.” Like super pets, actually. The type that were as close as family. But that world also seemed a lot more friendly. Sure, people were people everywhere, but a world that has some willing to go out of the way to help not just humans, but the creatures that lived there…
…Sounded a lot better than here.
“So,” he continued with a grin as he tilted his head back up to look at the other, “Any plans on how to try and help it hatch?”
Hakuba had been a little bit late to the show this time.
It had happened once before, that time due to traffic, this time was due to him getting wrapped up in a few things at his lab. He had lost track of time, which was unusual for him, and happened to arrive a bit late. He had seen signs that Spider had been there when he arrived, and was making his way to the roof as quick as he could.
He was running up the stairs as fast as his legs would go, taking the steps two at a time. He threw open the door leading out to the rooftop and relief washed over him as he spotted KID, who seemed unharmed. He placed his hand against a wall to catch his breath but looked up quickly as the thief started to talk.
At first he was a little bit confused, and his brows furrowed together as he tried to make sense of what KID was saying, but as he continued it started to dawn on him. He blinked, taken back by the thief’s words of concern. It was true, he had been hunting Spider much longer then he had KID, in fact he wasn’t even really hunting KID. KID was just Spider’s prey, and so it made sense for him to stick around.
At least that was how it had been in the beginning.
The last words out of the Thief’s mouth caused Hakuba to suck in a breath, eyes going wide. He was taken back by those words, and Hakuba could tell they were sincere. There was no trace of the Thief’s usual teasing manner, this was heartfelt and true. He actually took a step back, not really knowing what to do with the feelings welling in his chest.
Panic, fear, joy, longing, sadness…
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, taking control of himself once more, letting his face go neutral once more. He’d often wondered what KID thought of him, and had sometimes let fantasies of the thief liking him, like some of the fan fiction he’d read, but he’d never go farther then that. Mixing business with pleasure never ended well for anyone, and KID was a thief. He couldn’t let his emotions cloud his judgement.
“I’m surprised. I never thought you’d feel that way about me Kaito KID. But flattery will get you no where.”
…Of course the detective would just be his usual proud self. He didn’t know what he’d been expecting. Just… the thief was concerned. Just the few times Hakuba had been involved when Spider tried going after him… While the other saved him the first encounter with the assassin… The man had gone right around and taken Hakuba off guard…
Kid turned, throwing a small smile back at the detective as the diamond of tonight’s heist was casually tossed into the air and lightly caught between gloved fingers. The show of ease was fake, of course, but he’d already gotten what he’d wanted off of his chest. If the other was just going to let it fall and be ignored… well… fine. Just fall back into the normal routine.

“…No, I suppose it won’t, will it?”
The thief slid the unoccupied hand into his pocket as he turned the jewel over, pretending to be examining it while he pushed the thoughts of worry aside for the moment. Then he tossed it up again and held it up, head turned towards the other, usual confident mask back in place.
“But really detective, if you’re going to show up, at least be on time. That’s your specialty, isn’t it?~” And now he looked up at the clear gem, and the moon framing it, absently twisting it a little more before bringing it down some and curling the fingers around the stone.
“Though, I suppose while you’re here…” With only a smirk as warning, he tossed the gem at the detective. “Could you take that back to Nakamori-keibu for me?~”
- 6th Person gets: Chained to my muse for three days
Hakuba wasn’t sure how they ended up like this. The last thing he remembered was falling asleep in his bed He knew that he had fallen asleep there, he remembered setting his alarm for school the next day. He also wrote a memo to himself, to remind himself to hit the lab to look up a few things that had been bugging him.
Hakuba had then woken up somewhere, what looked to be a hotel room, feeling groggy. It almost felt like a hang over – he’d only even had one hang over in his whole life, but he never wanted one again. His eyes were crusted with sleep, his head was throbbing and his tongue was as dry as sand paper.
That was when he noticed the chain and shackle, a shackle that seemed to have no opening. And the person he was shackled too, who seemed to be sleeping, blissfully unaware of their situation.
Kuroba Kaito.
It… probably hadn’t been the best idea to the out so late. Really, after that time he was kidnapped by that crazy robot-maker, one would think the magician would be a lot more cautious of being out alone at all.
But he liked being out, and night was always peaceful. Crowds and light were great of course, but a part of him did like the cooler, quieter time after the sun had dipped below the horizon and the moon looked down instead, especially the closer it got to a heist. Definitely the thief part of him there, though it had been true even before he’d taken up the mantle. It had just become a more prevalent habit afterward. Wasn’t like he expected many random people to just up and knock him over the head all the time. Weren’t there supposed to be reports when that sort of thing was going on, or did all of his luck go into everything other than keeping him out of dangerous situations in the first place?
…Regardless, Kaito didn’t exactly have much of a chance to fight back when an arm suddenly reached from behind him out of nowhere and snaked around his shoulders to pull him back, another coming around to press a cloth to his face. Instantly, his eyes went wide and he instinctively took a breath at being caught off guard… which he instantly regretted as he got a small lungful of something cold and sickeningly sweet smelling, immediately leaving him dizzy with spots dancing in his vision, his efforts to pull the arm away and get free weaker. The brunet still tried to struggle, not breathe in any more, but as unprepared as he was, and already having taken in some of it, he didn’t last long, arms going slack as his eyelids fell and darkness overtook him.
~
When consciousness started coming back, the teen almost wanted to just go back to sleep. His head was aching and a wave of nausea passed through him as he shifted, a hoarse groan coming from his throat. Ow… Getting whacked over the head was almost more preferable than this…
He frowned as the memories of what had happened slowly came back, and he had to resist the urge to panic and immediately jolt up and assess what had happened as a spike of adrenaline shot through him when he realised he’d been drugged and was likely not somewhere he knew. Definitely wouldn’t be smart right now… A small, sluggish check to see if he could move his arms and legs told him that he wasn’t tied up, at least.
…For the most part.
The magician slowly slowly blinked his eyes open to check the unexpected weight and uncomfortable feel of metal, but froze when he noticed that there was another person. An unexpectedly very familiar person.

“…‘akuba…?”
The voice was uncharacteristically scratchy for the brunet as he did try and sit up now, another small groan sounding before he shut his eyes again and laid back down. Yeah. Best not to get up. At least not until he felt like he could do it without wanting to vomit.
“I still said no, many times, I didn’t want to, period, that should still be enough, he /knows/ I’m not childish.”

(…Okay, childish might not be the right word. More… unreasonable. And stubborn when you get an idea in your head, whether it’s right or wrong or biased. He tries to meet you with reason, but you never seem to hear it. And how many times did you say no in the past? Push him away? Run away yourself? You do realise he’s had to break past your ‘nos’ at times, so he didn’t think that much differently this time. We understand your general reasons for disliking Heiji, but at the same time, know you can tolerate each other. And while you don’t normally open up to people, it’s Kai. Talk to him if you think he’s not getting something. I know you’re comfortable enough around him to do it.)
“I did tell him, I even told him if it was just us, me and him, that maybe I would change my mind…”

(Yeah. ‘Maybe’. That’s going to clue him in to anything, or make him confident you even would. And no, you never did say why at the time, just that you didn’t want to in front of Heiji. And to be perfectly frank, without the knowledge of what you’re upset with exactly, it just sounds like the childish ‘I don’t like him, so no’. Not something that would keep Kai from trying. He’s smart at times, oblivious at others, so if you’re getting upset, tell him outright, else he may not get it until later, and then he gets guilty at making you upset. You aren’t the one who has to deal with a sullen thief, most of the time.)
“It shouldn’t matter. I’ve put up with him pushing my boundaries often, so when I say no, it should still mean no.”

(Like I said, he’s sorry. But you’re the Hakuba he felt most comfortable with asking to do something like that in the first place, and he did want to do that and have fun, so he was more persistent that he might be otherwise if you were uncomfortable. He just thought it was the usual animosity towards Heiji, and something you could deal with. He wouldn’t have asked if he’d known you were that upset with the Osakan. And you should know by now that he doesn’t even push boundaries much unless he thinks it won’t hurt people. Could’ve just said outright why you didn’t want to do anything involving Heiji.)
