“There’s room just down the hall to the right, you can use that to get changed, then go through the kitchen, and the first door on the left is the dining room, I will be waiting for you there.” Hakuba nodded before making his way through the kitchen, grabbing the food, which he plated, as he did, placing it on the table on either side, one for himself and one for Kuroba. He then placed the box on the chair, so the other would have to pick it up before sitting, and took a seat himself.

He also poured a sweeter wine for the magician, and a more bitter wine for himself, and waited.

Kaito returned the nod and paused before heading over to the indicated room. He’d already been wearing half of the outfit, so a whole room wasn’t really needed, but it did feel more comfortable to not be putting on the more recognisable pieces out in the open. Jacket, tie, cape, hat, then…

The magician hesitated for a minute before finally putting the eyepiece into place and walking back to where the other had gone, following the detective’s direction to the dining room. When he did step into the room, he had to stop and take in the scene.

Hakuba on one side, food set out nicely on the table, and…. well, he could quite say he wasn’t entirely comfortable with the prospect of drinking right now. But for the most part…

…It was nice to see.

Of course, the box did get his attention rather quickly and he went over to the chair, slowly lifting it up and raising a questioning eyebrow at the one across from him. He did have a guess at what it might be, but for all he knew, the detective would surprise him.

Hakuba had made sure they would have the house to themselves, as it would be rather embarrassing if his father or Bayaa came in. He’d also made them dinner, since he had asked the other to come over after school, and had the table set and ready for the other to arrive. And as if on queue a knock came from the door and Hakuba made his way over. He was wearing a casual suit, if one could call a suit casual, but it was something comfortable.

He also had a little box wrapped up in a ribbon, waiting for Kuroba, where he would sit. He smiled and opened the door, face bright and cheerful.

“Come in Kuroba.” He held the door open for the other. “I trust you found the outfit?”

He hesitated before smiling back at the detective and entered the house, waving the bag with the clothes around some so that the other saw it.

“Of course. Did you want me to put it on now, or wait until later?”

The tone was polite, if a bit strained. Kaito knew he shouldn’t be quite so apprehensive, but he couldn’t help it. This was definitely not familiar territory…

Continued from here

The magician sighed as he raised a hand to knock on the door. The jacket, cape, hat, and monocle were tucked away neatly in a bag, held by his other arm. He’d put them on inside, if the detective really did still plan on having him wear the full costume, but he’d certainly not been about to wear the whole outfit in public to come here. Especially during the day.

I just hope this won’t go too badly…

“Good Boy.”

He wasn’t sure whether or not he should be glad that the detective was the one doing this or not, since there were probably worse people he could play pet to…. But he did know he was irritated about being put in this situation in the first place.

“…I’m not going to have to wear a collar or anything, am I?”

“I have no intentions of bringing the police in on anything.” He didn’t this was for his… own pleasure of course. If he seemed alright with the cat ears and collar, well, whose to say he couldn’t have a bit more fun hmm? Even though last time Kuroba had cat ears didn’t exactly end well, that was because they were real, these would be fake and merely there for looking, not touch.

Somehow…. that didn’t make him feel much better. The magician was trying to get Hakuba… but this situation was making him somewhat wary of the other, especially with how fast he’d jumped on the opportunity.

And yeah, that grin wasn’t helping. It was reminding him a bit too much like some of his own for his liking…

“Oh, joy… Half an hour is probably how long it’ll take me to get to your place after school. And don’t worry, I won’t run.”

And with that, he looked away.

“Good Boy.”

“…I’m not going to have to wear a collar or anything, am I?”

Hakuba blinked before smiling. “I have a much better idea, find yourself a KID outfit, and meet me at my place after school.” Oh yes, he had a very, very good idea, and he couldn’t stop the grin on his face. He knew the other would have no problem with this, considering he was KID, but he decided to humor him just for now.

…Kid’s outfit?

The fact that Hakuba was requesting that, along with the grin the other was now sporting, started to make Kaito worry just a bit. He knew the detective wouldn’t use this as an opportunity to try and actually catch him, but he did have to wonder why the other would want him to be Kid.

“…Okay, then.” He sighed before grinning teasingly, “Just hope your ‘idea’ doesn’t involve the police… I like cops and robbers as much as the next guy, but only if it’s kept to a game.”

“Good Boy.”

“I wasn’t thinking of it before, but now I just might. Maybe with a little collar, no more sneaking up on people.” Hakuba was having too much fun at the thought. Of course he would never force the other to do something they truly didn’t want to do, it was still fun to tease the other. “Maybe some cat ears?”

Kaito knew the other was teasing, though wasn’t going to put it past the detective to actually go through with it either. He’d protest if he was dead set against it, but a collar would actually be easy to tolerate, if the other did decide to use one. He was more surprised by the cat ear comment, considering the last time he’d had some hadn’t exactly been comfortable for Hakuba, in the end….

“…It’s not like I get too much say, right? Would depend on what you really wanted to do, I’d think.”

“Good Boy.”

Hakuba cursed as he struggled to get up and over the wall; it was true. He was running on adrenaline right now, his heart was pounding in his chest and his whole body felt tingly. He knew if he tried to out run the thief, he’d loose rather quickly. He was tired, but there was just so much work to be done, he was used to going without sleep for days, he was so busy. there just didn’t seem to be enough time in the day for him to finish everything. Between cases, school and heists, it was a wonder he got any sleep at all.

image

“Why are you trying to hard to make me sleep?” Hakuba huffed. He was on top of the wall now, but he had stilled there, trying to catch his breath. “My lack of sleep is none of your concern. I am perfectly capable of functioning on three days without rest. It has only been two.”

Why was he explaining himself to him? Did he really think it would matter? Maybe it was the thought of being knocked out with gas that was scaring him so much. He definitely didn’t enjoy the after effects of it either. Made his throat feel dry and left a horrible after taste in his mouth. It was not something he would like to be the reasoning behind him sleeping. Though he wasn’t liking being chased by the thief either, he didn’t like being chased period. He was a detective, he did the chasing.

"Even if you can function, I highly doubt you work as well as you would if you actually got proper sleep, tantei. This situation just proves that point.”

The thief came to a stop at the bottom of the wall, crossing his arms and frowning up at the other. The dove carefully fluttered over to the detective’s shoulder and started picking at the other’s hair, as though it were preening it.

“You like avoiding things with words and escaping when you know you’re in a situation you definitely can’t handle. Yet you didn’t take the opportunity to make me stop bugging you about the sleep by just saying you would take a nap or something, even if it may have been a lie. And you’re not in good enough physical condition to even flee right now. And it is my concern, if the detective who claims he’ll catch me is going to be so idiotic as to think he can try getting by with so little sleep that he eventually passes out from working too hard. It’s a wonder you’re even still able to solve normal cases as you are. Why is it that those who should know best that the mind needs rest, as well as the body, never seem to care about sleep? I think even your favourite, Holmes, knew that sleep was important if you wanted to be able to think properly. I seem to have more sense in that respect than you, and you know something’s wrong when that happens.”

♡:Accidentally falling asleep together

Kaito slowly opened his eyes, blinking a few times and trying to remember why his head was currently on the couch armrest, instead of in his bed. Then the noticed the television was on and showing a man in a cage, talking into a cell phone. After a moment of brow-furrowed confusion, he recalled what had happened.

Right… Hakuba brought the Sherlock DVDs over for me to see…. Must’ve fallen asleep…

After staring for a moment, the magician noticed the volume was much lower than it had been earlier.

…Did he turn it down because of me?

He turned a bit and glanced over at the other side of the couch, smiling a bit when he saw he hadn’t been the only one to drift off. The detective was leaning against the back of the couch, head lolled back as his chest rose with deep, even breaths.

Good. Nice to see him actually getting some rest…

Though, now he had to wonder at what to do. He’d missed quite a bit of the show, so there really wasn’t much point in watching that right now. And while he wanted to rest against the sleeping teen, he knew that it might cause a problem when Hakuba woke up.

After some hesitation, Kaito shifted to curl up on the couch, with his head just beside the other with his back to the glowing screen, letting the soft background noise of the show make his mind start drifting back to sleep.

He did say he wouldn’t give up… and only doing things as Kid was starting to get frustrating. So, when he got to the classroom, he made sure to check that no one else was around before going over to Hakuba and brushing his hair out of the way to lightly press his lips against the other’s forehead before going to his own seat. No that wasn’t a blush. Must’ve been a trick of the light. He did keep an eye on the other afterward, though. Just because the detective hadn’t been reacting too badly lately didn’t mean Kaito wasn’t still worried…
