“Kuroba-san, you’re zippers undone.”

Whether it’s true or not, the magician just raises an eyebrow and doesn’t even make a move to check.

Hakuba realized, a little too late, that his jab, which had been meant to jar the teen into talking, had had the opposite effect. He sighed and rubbed at his forehead, inwardly scolding himself. He knew not doing magic tricks in school had got him down and he had been trying to cheer him up. He’d become attached to Kuroba, not that he’d let that interfere with his job.

But while they were at school, he was of the clock.

Hakuba pulled his Horse origami horse back towards him and took another piece of paper, tearing it down the middle, and then wrapping it around the other side until it formed a sort of pole. He then folded the other piece in until the flag – made with white paper – was formed. He then pressed it against the horse and lowered himself, pushing it forward towards him and using his finger to wave it.

The magician peeked over his arm at the sound of tearing paper, watching as the other made his white flag. He couldn’t help but give a small smile when the detective waved it, eyes softening at the display.

After a few seconds, Kaito reached his arm out to cup his hand over the desk again, like he had with the dove. Only, this time when he pulled it away, there was a rose instead of another bird. He slowly returned the arm to where it had been and placed his head back down, mumbling something into his sleeve.

“Wake up!”

The thief jerked and his eyes slowly regained their focus. His mind was still clouded, but it was quickly fading, and it wasn’t too long before he became aware of what was going on around him again.

And to have the detective’s face not to far from his own was surprising to see, to say the least.

“…T-tan..tei?”

Kid tried  to raise a hand, blinking when he found resistance. His eyes glanced up and he noticed the other’s hands on his wrists, suddenly becoming very aware that there was quite a bit of weight on him as well. He didn’t push the other away, however. Confusion was the only thing really going through his head right now, and he was trying to figure out what had happened, not even aware that he was relaxing as his mind was returning.

“Why….”

Hakuba was pacing back and forth in his living room. He had asked Kuroba to come over to his house, for an important talk. He had also stated that it had nothing to do with him being KID, to make sure that the other would make his way over. Though he was nervous; beyond nervous. What he had to talk about wasn’t something he thought he would ever have to talk about.

image

But this was important. Peoples lives were on the line, and Hakuba had to take this seriously.

[αη∂ єνєяуωнєяє тнαт мαяу ωєηт, ]

Hakuba had received a phone call from one of his old colleges who he had worked with a few times in London. It seemed he was deep undercover, working a human trafficking ring. He had infiltrated up into the top of the ring, but what he needed to blow open the case, wasn’t something he could get. That was why he had phoned Hakuba, asking for him to get a hold of, KID of all people.

It seemed that in order for the police to be able to go in, the needed hard evidence, and that meant they needed the book. It contained all the information on their trafficking, including their trades and customers. This case was going to be dangerous, if they got caught they would be murdered. The book itself was hid away in a safe, a safe that was hard to crack.

That’s where KID came in.

[тнє ℓαмв ωαѕ ѕυяє тσ gσ.]

Hakuba sighed and ran a hand through his hair. He would lay everything out for Kuroba, let him know the dangerous and just what was entailed. They’d be going into a part of London that even Hakuba wasn’t comfortable with. He’d never even done a case there, and wasn’t very well known in that part of London. Still, to be sure, he’d dye his hair a bit more blonde and put in blue contacts.

All that was left was Kuroba. He couldn’t do this without him. But he wouldn’t force the teen into this if he didn’t want to. It was understandable.

Hakuba nearly jumped when he heard a knock from the door and rushed over, opening it up quickly and stepping aside, ushering the other in before he even had a chance to speak.

Kaito stood in front of the house, arms crossed and head tilted slightly. Even if the detective had said it had nothing to do with Kid, just the fact he felt he had to say that made him slightly wary as to why the other had asked him to come….Yet, here he was anyway.

The magician sighed and raised a hand to rap on the door.

Of course he had come. It wasn’t often Hakuba requested anything of him, and something about how he’d asked made Kaito wonder about what could be so important that would require the other to call on him…

He blinked when the door soon flew open and the detective was there, already silently allowing him inside. That…. had been entirely too quick. The dark haired teen hesitated before nodding to the other and walking inside, curiosity growing. After taking a few steps in, he stopped, casually putting his arms behind his head and looking back at Hakuba.

“So… what’s this ‘important talk’ you wanted me here for?”

Proof?

britishhsdetectivehakuba:

Hakuba would have asked the same thing. He had been sure it’s been a dream, but when he woke up, he’d still had his pokeball, though he had not yet figured out how to make it work here in this world. He knew Foxy was curled up in the pokeball, just waiting for him to release her, and it made him long to hold her again.

Hakuba chewed his bottom lip before reaching down to pick up his school bag. It was bulging and quite heavy, though he gently placed it on the desk. He looked around the room to make sure no one was round before he pulled down the sides of the bag. As he did so, a container, with a small pokeball on top, started to show. Finally as he made it past the lid, an egg, nestled on a cushion was revealed.

“I’m not sure if it will hatch or not.” He fingers gently caressed the ball in his pocket. “But I’m sure I will eventually find a way.” He hesitated before pushing it across to Kuroba. “I’m not sure which pokemon it is, it was a gift.”

The magician blinked when Hakuba brought his bag up. He certainly had something that he didn’t normally…

Even more surprising was what was revealed to be inside. He leaned in slightly to look at it, curious despite the small amount of disbelief still in the back of his mind. The ball was given a brief thought –Why was it in there?- before he examined the egg itself. It was… large, to say the least. That, and the fact it had light green spots on it were starting to convince him that maybe it really wasn’t from this world, and that, possibly, the detective was telling the truth…

Kaito carefully reached over, glancing up at the other to make sure it was alright, and gently drew it closer, turning it slightly so that he could see it better.

“A gift? Do people often give out these… Pokemon? Seems like quite a responsibility…”

“Proof?”

x

Kaito paused his story as the detective spoke and inwardly smacked himself on the head. Of course he’d want actual evidence of it happening. The only problem was… he wasn’t sure if he had any.

He quickly patted around and checked his pockets, hoping that maybe the Treasure Bag had come back with him… But unfortunately, he couldn’t find anything. He crossed his arms and sighed, about to just give up when he saw something poking out underneath his sleeve. And he’d seen it often enough to immediately grin and untie it from his wrist, holding it out proudly.

“Here! This is a Persim Band. It keeps whoever is wearing it from being disoriented.”

♥ Oh how I love thee, let me count the ways. You portray a wonderful Kaito that I feel my Hakuba can just bounce back and forth with well. You’re rping is well done, and beautiful and I love it every time I see a response from you. I often bounce when I know you’ve replied. We have a million threads going on, and yet we keep up with all of them. I love having lots of threads with an rp partner! You’re a wonderful person in general and I love rping with you :D

(*squees and rolls* Thank you! I really wasn’t sure if I’d be able to do well, since the only time I’d ever really RP’d was on IRC, and randomly based on whatever name I happened to be using at the time. So starting a blog was entirely new, and I’m glad to know I can do well with Kai. Having a lot of threads is fun and he and I are both happy with how it’s been going (still kinda wish I could go faster, but it’s not bothering me as much as when I was GMing a mafia game). We both love you and you’re Hakuba as well, and just… *hugs*)

4th Person gets: A heartfelt confession

“You might want to keep an eye on your white horse. Annoyances tend to disappear, if they’re too persistent…”

Kid didn’t look back when the detective came out onto the roof. A small frown was on his face and his eyes were narrowed, focusing on a spot in the air a ways out in front of him where small specks of red light could still be seen before they quickly disappeared. Just as the man who made them had when the teen had been heard arriving. It took a minute before the thief finally turned around.

“Tantei…I know you’ve been chasing Spider longer than you have been me… But… could you promise me you won’t try anything.. reckless around him? It’s doubtful he’ll let you keep interfering with his work, and I…”

Kid paused for a moment and looked away again. Why was he saying this? He knew Hakuba hadn’t heard what the assassin had said before he left….. But for some reason the words wouldn’t stop.

“I don’t know what I’d do if anything happened to you…”

[Send a symbol and my muse will show up in your’s house at 3AM…] ☤ – with a large, bleeding wound

britishhsdetectivehakuba:

Wait… when did I… get here?

The thief blinked as he stared at the horse insignia on the door in front of him. A torn and tattered cape blew around weakly in the wind, and his suit was looking a bit worse for the wear itself, with much of the right half dyed scarlet. He twisted his body to look back the way he came from, wincing as his arm sent out a wave of pain. Glider, falling, hurt…. nothing much was coming to mind about the specifics or what had happened afterward, but he knew he was currently standing in front of Hakuba’s house with a bleeding and, very likely, broken arm.

Kid slowly faced the door again and almost considered just going off to find a pay phone to call Jii. But the feeling of something warm trailing down his arm told him that, the sooner he could get help, the better.

Sighing, he knocked firmly on the door with his left hand, hoping that the detective wouldn’t be too angry at getting a late night visitor….

Hakuba grabbed the things he needed and slipped on the surgical gloves on and headed back downstairs. He placed the first aid kit down on the table and opening it to take out the stitching equipment, some cream to dull the area and some bandages. He then turned towards the thief and looked over his arm and nodded.

“It’s fine, I was only reading.” He answered and gently took the others arm into his hand, looking over what he could see from here and sighed. “You’re going to have to remove your jacket and shirt, so I can get to this properly. You’ll also probably need a new shirt, I will give you one.”

Hakuba went back over towards his first aid kit and took out some disinfectant and poured it into a plastic cup. He then dropped the needle into it as well as the stitching thread. He poured some over his hands and gloves, just in case. This wasn’t even really about his mysophobia, it wouldn’t be good if any germs got into the wound and caused it to become infected.

“You can keep your hat and monocle on, I have no intention of catching you this way.” Hakuba explained as he turned back towards the other. “But I do need to be able to see the wound without obstructions, and even if you rolled up your sleeve, there is still a chance it could fall back down. Stitching a wound is delicate work.”

He watched as the detective set out all the items, a thought briefly passing through his mind about how often the detective must have done this before, to be able to get prepared so quickly. He frowned, though whether it was because of the idea of Hakuba using the equipment frequently or because he had just moved the injured arm, he wasn’t sure.

The thief nodded at the request to take off the shirt and suit. He had guessed that would need to be done, though Hakuba saying that he’d give him another shirt surprised him a bit. When the other had let him in, he’d been expecting to just have the wound fixed up some and then leave. However, changing out of the blood soaked outfit would be welcome…

The jacket was easy, having only one button, and was soon slipped off while Hakuba was disinfecting everything.

“Trust me, tantei. I know,” Kid said, pulling the tie off and letting it fall on top of the suit. He muttered the next line as he got started on the buttons of his shirt, which was proving a bit more difficult than he’d like, with only one hand, “Not exactly the first time I’ve needed stitches….”

The teen blinked wearily as the door opened, eyes going wide as he saw the detective. He turned so that his back was to the Hakuba, hoping the other hadn’t seen the wetness on his face…. Though he most likely had…

“…I had nightmare,” he said, wincing at the hoarseness in his voice.

They were on a school field trip and were spending the night at a hotel. Hakuba had been l unlucky enough to end up in the same room as Kuroba. He was finding it hard to sleep though, so he had gone for a walk in the cool night air to clear his head a little. He had tried to remain quiet coming back into the room, but it seemed there was no need to. Kuroba was already awake.

image

He paused as he watched the other teen roll away so he back was towards him. He sighed, and wondered what was going on, but the answer to that question was answered almost imminently. He walked over towards the bed and sat down on the edge, looking at the back of the other teen. He thought for a moments before he looked up at the ceiling. He himself was no newcomer when it came to nightmares, and had a few things that helped him return to sleep, but he was unsure if they would help the other.

“Do you want to talk about it?”

Kaito didn’t say anything for a few minutes after the detective asked. He waited until he’d calmed down some before finally wiping his face and sitting up, reaching over to grab his pillow and hugging it, eyes still wet.

“Not much to talk about…. It’s just…”

He squeezed the pillow tighter. He wasn’t exactly against telling Hakuba, but… well, he just hoped the detective wouldn’t get too interested.

“…It was about my father. And his last show…”

It hadn’t been the first time he’d gotten the nightmare, but it seemed to be coming more and more frequently, especially after learning what had happened to Toichi. It took him right back to when he was a kid. And showed the same scene, of that horrible day…

“It depends on how long we are going to be gone.” Checks his cellphone. “If you don’t mind stopping at my place, we can grab a few things, and then we can drive there.”

“That’s fine by me….” Though, he hadn’t really thought about how long to stay, Hakuba mentioning it did make him wonder…

“Sooo, if we’re actually preparing… Can we stay the night?”
