Hakuba sighed as the other teen rushed past him. He checked his pocket watch. “It will only take, ten minuets, five seconds and fifty five milliseconds to get there.”

He slowed down some, but remained in front of the detective, turning to face the other and walking backwards.

“I never see you anymore.~ Come out the door.~ It’s like you’ve gone away~…. Hmmm… do you think we should stop by a store and buy some things first?”

Hakuba let out a loud sigh and opened his cellphone, typing away at it before turning to walk. “The next train leaves in thirty minuets.”

“Really!?” Kaito grinned and excitedly ran ahead of the detective. He hadn’t actually been expecting Hakuba to agree, but if the other was willing, he certainly wasn’t going to stop him. He fell back to singing, even if the detective still didn’t know the song. “Then, c’mon, let’s go and play.~”

“Kuroba-san, you’re zippers undone.”

Whether it’s true or not, the magician just raises an eyebrow and doesn’t even make a move to check.

“I believe that’s checkmate.” Hakuba smiled and leaned back in his chair a bit. He knew the teachers had noticed and were heading over. Hakuba raised a hand and shook his head, before looking back at the others. “I’ll go have a talk with the principle. Really, you doing magic at school is helpful. ” He smirked. “You reveal more and more about yourself through your trick. Makes it easier for me to find proof.”

Hakuba paused for dramatic effect.

“Kaitou KID.”

Kaito glared at the other for a second before his face turned into one of disappointment. He was used to the detective’s constant jabs at his other job, and he should be happy that he was going to convince the teachers to let the magician continue doing magic…. But…

He rested his head on the desk again, idly reaching over to collect the small jewels in a pile between the dove and horse. Well the ones on the desk, anyway. He stared at the small scene for a moment before completely burying his head in his arms.

He wished Hakuba would just enjoy the tricks for fun, instead of always looking for the thief in them. The magician had thought that was what they were doing just then…. At least, that was what he had been doing.

“Kuroba-san, you’re zippers undone.”

Hakuba looked over the scene before pulling out another piece of paper. He was not going to loose to him here, like he usually did during heist. Not that KID was his main priority, but he knew that KID was slippery. Of course he’d never admit he had trouble catching him out loud, especially to the one he knew was said thief.

He smirked at the pair of tiny handcuffs he made and placed them next to the Hakuba horse before looking up at the other, hold out a hand as if to say. ‘well, what next?’

Ok, he may have been a little impressed. The magician picked up the small handcuffs, looking at them closely as he thought of how to top them. Then he closed his fingers around the paper to hide it from view. The hand flew above his head, opening to have a good amount of tiny jewels rain down on the desk, many bouncing off onto the floor, having momentarily forgotten about not showing off with magic. The handcuffs were fine, of course, having been slipped on the horse when he’d thrown the gems.

Kaito grinned at Hakuba before the smile quickly fell and his eyes widened as he realised that that had been a lot more noticeable than making the dove appear…. He was almost afraid to look back and see if they’d noticed…

Hush~

The teen blinked wearily as the door opened, eyes going wide as he saw the detective. He turned so that his back was to the Hakuba, hoping the other hadn’t seen the wetness on his face…. Though he most likely had…

“…I had nightmare,” he said, wincing at the hoarseness in his voice.

“Kuroba-san, you’re zippers undone.”

Hakuba took out another piece of paper himself, and started to fold it, until it made a little cape, which he added to the dove. With a little tug and pull it turned into a hang glider, and then a push and shove and it returned to a cape. He grinned and looked up at the other, waving a hand as if to say continue.

Kaito’s shoulders shook a few times as he gave silent laughter. Even if it was part of Kid’s outfit, it looked strange to give the wings to something that already had some.

And now he had to actually think of what to do next… Unless they wanted to go so far as to have the full suit and tie, there wasn’t anything to be done to the dove. And while he could make an Inverness for the horse, that didn’t seem very interesting, and wouldn’t exactly be showing off any compared to the cape…

The magician brought a hand to his chin in contemplation for a minute before another grin spread wide and he got to work. It took longer than the others, but when he finished, he moved his hands away so the detective could see.

And a paper gem lay on the desk. He poked it some to let it roll on the longer edges, smiling confidently at Hakuba.
