The thief lazily opened an eye to look up first towards the flower, then at his detective.
“And here I thought I was the one who’s supposed to pull flowers out of thin air…” He reached up to lightly touch the new accessory before letting his arm fall down to the side, taking Hakuba’s hand and bringing it to his lips, placing a small kiss on the other’s fingers and smiling softly.
“Not that I’m complaining, of course~,” Kid said as the brought the hand to his chest and closed his eyes again, completely relaxed and content to leave the flower there.
Kaito paused a moment to touch the flower before grinning and reaching out to hug his detective and give a quick kiss to the cheek.
“Thanks, Hakuba. I’ll do my best to wear it proudly~”
Well, as proudly as he could for being a guy with a flower on his head, but, while there may have been a slight tease in his voice, the magician wasn’t going to remove it. Not really something he’d been expecting, but not unwelcome in the slightest.

Hakuba broke the kiss and looked up at him, frowning, this reminded him so much of himself. He closed his eyes before he tugged off his gloves and gripped Kid’s cheeks between his hands. “Look at me, please.” He looks him right in the eyes. “I love you, so much. I’m not questioning anymore, I’m not torn; I’m not leaving.” He kisses his forehead before nuzzling his neck a little. “Please don’t give up on me.”
Kid was still standing, torn, when Hakuba pulled back, and it wasn’t until he felt the warmth of the other’s bare hands on his face that he jerked himself out if his worrying and focused on his detective.
He couldn’t hold back the rush of love that came at the words, nor did he really want to, though the need to protect the other more came as well. But his slight panic did die down, and he let out a breath he hadn’t even been aware he’d been holding, taking a moment to breath, calm down, and think straight again.
The thief followed his detective with his eyes as he moved forward again to kiss him on the forehead. At this point, he couldn’t really pull away. It wouldn’t change the fact Hakuba had seen them, and he was probably already worried… So when the other teen started nuzzling his neck, he finally moved the frozen arms forward and around his detective, though still shaking slightly.
“I wasn’t… I’d never give up on you… Just…”
A sigh left him as me made himself relax.
It was alright.
Hakuba was fine now.
His detective wouldn’t be hurt by this.
They loved each other.
Nothing bad would happen…
“…I just don’t want something to go wrong again. Would have waited until they went away…”
…Despite the trust he had in his detective and his arguments to himself to get him to not worry, the ears still were pulled back some, though not flat like they’d been a moment ago. And Kid looked to the side, ashamed. Of course Hakuba wouldn’t leave again. Wouldn’t be likely to even panic either. He knew he shouldn’t have thought that… but… feeling the extra parts there again had just sent him back. To a mix of happiness and loneliness, desire and guilt, a comfortable warmth that had faded into much to familiar coldness.
After all this time, he didn’t want to feel that again. And he hadn’t even known just how badly he wanted to avoid it.
“Sorry…” he finally said, moving to give a small kiss of to Hakuba’s head before tilting to rest his own head against his detective for a moment.
Hakuba frowned and pulled his hand back at the hiss. He didn’t know why KID was acting like this, like he’d hurt him. It made his heart sink into his stomach and he wanted nothing more then to hold him, to be told what was going on and why he was so nervous; why he didn’t want Hakuba near him. There was also the pain of rejection; maybe KID didn’t love him anymore, maybe he just wanted nothing to do with him; maybe this was their break up.
With a hi-
A hiss?
Hakuba tilted his head in thought for a moment before his eyes went wide and he wanted to smack himself. This time he wasn’t slow, he walked towards him with purpose and if KID backed up he would break into a run until he could grasp his shirt and hold him still. He looked up at him, could see now that it was fear in his eyes, fear of him finding out; but he already knew.
Hakuba reached up with his free hand, holding onto KID tightly as he gripped the rim of the hat and tossed it to the side, revealing what he had thought; cat ears. He frowned, wondering why he’d want to hide this from him, and thought back on the other times he’d had ears, they had been pleasurable right? Well, they had been, until Hakuba had taken off and then broken down.
That explained that.
“I’m not running this time.” and he pulled him down into a kiss.
Well, Hakuba must have had to dash, because the thief definitely started to retreat when he saw the other coming towards him, a feeling of panic come up, unbidden, when his detective grabbed his shirt. Somewhere in his mind, he knew the ears didn’t mean something bad would happen. That the problems that had occurred were caused because Hakuba had still been fighting with himself, not because of being a neko.
…It didn’t stop him from starting to shake slightly, especially when the hat was taken away, allowing the ears a brief moment of relief at no longer being confined before they fell back. He wanted to hug his detective. Make him not worry. But he was the one afraid. Scared that something else would happen. Heck, the first time he’d had the ears, he hadn’t even been able to think entirely clearly until after Hakuba had already left. Hadn’t been able to stop things before they went to far, nor really control the situation at-
Kid barely managed to even catch what the other had said before his detective kissed him, hands raising some before they stopped, unsure of whether he wanted to push him away and run, or pull him closer and not let go. It killed most of his thoughts, but both wants still remained. Hold his detective, return the kiss, show how much he appreciated the other wanting to surprise him by coming… But at the same time, pull back, fly away, don’t let something bad happen while you’re aware enough to avoid it. Even if Hakuba said that he wouldn’t leave him again… and if that situation did ever happen again, he knew the other wouldn’t. But…
And for once, it seemed the thief was the one that had broken, arms frozen partway in the air and even the tail had stopped moving around its confinement. However, he was also still trembling a bit because he was the one with two opposite feelings fighting each other. And for silly reasons at that…
Hakuba Smiled and took the strap from him, adjusting it from memory of last time and then stepped close, so their bodies were together. “Next time I’ll not bring the car, or we can go gliding again some other time.” He smiled and reached up to place a soft kiss to his lips. “Be gentle with me.”
He blinked at the kiss, though he wasn’t quite so taken off guard as to blush because of it. It did make him feel enough of a rush of affection to raise his free hand to caress Hakuba’s face, eyes going soft for a moment.
“…Of course, tantei.” Kid attached the other’s strap to his own, making sure it was secure before giving a smaller, disarming smile and finally wrapping his arms around the other, button for the glider gripped tightly in one of his hands.
“…Or, well… at the very least, I’ll be sure to get us there safely~”
And at that, he hugged his detective tight as he jumped backwards off the roof, grinning like a maniac as he watched the sky for a few seconds, enjoying the air pushing up against his back before actually turning in the air and pressing the button. As the metal rods in the cape extended, he continued to aim down for the most part, so that when it opened completely, the glider wouldn’t have to deal with the sudden weight of two people all at once.
Hakuba flushed a little when he saw the strap, remembering how frightened he’d been the first time. He was loath to leave his car behind as well. “I’ll meet you halfway, we can glide down to my car, as I don’t want to leave it here.” He walked towards his thief and stood before him. “That a deal?”
“Spoilsport…. But fine… It’s a deal~” He said, holding it out for the detective to put on and join him on the edge of the roof. Gliding was much preferable to driving in his opinion, but oh well. Whichever way would get them home.
…And it wasn’t as though he couldn’t have some fun simply going to the car, either…
Hakuba continued to chuckle and shake his head. “If you say so, my theif. Now tell me, how are we getting home today? Magical glass leading home or maybe you’ll try your transporting magic on us?” He raised an eyebrow, teasing him. “Though my car is downstairs, if you’d prefer a faster way.”
His mouth twitched upward even more at the joking questions.
“Hmm… well, I don’t have any magical glass with me at the moment. Actually, some ruby slippers might be nice for that, too… Though I guess we wouldn’t know if those allow a passenger…”
Kid grinned and changed the direction he was heading, going over to the ledge and lightly taking a step up, leaning forward slightly over the air as he turned to look back to Hakuba.
“…But transporting magic, you should know I always have, tantei~”
The thief then reached in his pocket and pulled out a strap, along with a fastener.
That was actually surprising but he chuckled and shook his head. “I like poker, as long as you promise not to cheat, my thief.” He wiggled a finger. He’d be keeping a close eye on his poker partner. “Promise to play fairly and you have a deal.” He smiled.
“Me? Cheat? I would never~” Well that was half true. He didn’t like outright cheating for games normally. It took the fun out of them…
But whether he would cheat currently or not would depend, since it wasn’t entirely the card game he was interested in.
“The Lady favours me anyway, even without resorting to that sort of thing, tantei.”
