Was that a swipe at his ‘age’? Oh god, it was. Of course it was. “I didn’t want your ‘diamond’ in the first place!” Aggravated, flustered. He really didn’t. Never, no, gross. At least he didn’t seem to be escaping anymore, which meant he still had a chance at retrieving the actual diamond before he got away.

Or catching him. That too. Could actually try that for once. Sighed, didn’t know why he’d said something so careless and gross earlier, but wasn’t about to let it get to him anymore. “Actually, no, give the gem back. It’s not yours.” Most of the competitive edge from before lost in his humiliation.

“And get that smirk off your face.” A groan as he put a hand to his face. “It’s annoying.”

Nope, that smirk has no intention on leaving, tantei-kun~ Regardless that it made Kid stop what he was doing, a detective really should know better than to let that slip around this thief.

He faced the smaller, a show of ease in front of the chibi in casually making the jewel appear between his fingers. Of course he’s wary – too much experience with the other not to be – but it certainly didn’t look it, with Kid humming thoughtfully as he turned the prize in hand.

“It’s not yours either, though. And unfortunately, you’ve come too early for me to feel like giving it back just yet…” The smirk broke into a grin as the shining gem disappeared in his fist. When the fingers loosened, they had some familiar looking balls known for producing smoke.

“Besides, you just said you weren’t interested in the ‘diamond’, you should have no problem with me leaving~”

36. I really want the D.

“I really want the D!” He blurted out, before smacking his head. Where had that even come from? No, no he does not want the D, doesn’t want any D, barely wanted his own D. Grimaced. Okay, enough thinking about that. Undoubtedly KID was staring at him like he had just grown a second head, but he wasn’t about to look up to check.

“-iamond.” He tried to cover, miserably. “I really want the diamond you took.”

Yeah, that outburst had earned an awkward pause, accompanied with wide eyes and a raised brow. Not a phrase he would have expected to come out of that mouth, though if it was meant to distract the thief, it certainly accomplished that.

…At the attempt to recover, though, another moment of silence passed. Then a small smirk.

Like he was going to let you off that easily. Not one to let that slip-up pass, this thief.

“Oh is that all? Had me worried for a second there. Though either way, I don’t think it’d be in my best interest to give you what you want right now, tantei-kun. I’m already in enough trouble with the law, I think I’ll just keep my ‘diamond’ to myself, thanks.”
