She folded her hands, a bright smile getting on her face as she stood up.

“Yes, I want to!!”

At once she noticed how weird her answer sounded. Shaking her head, she corrected her answer to make it sound less like she got an proposal.

“I meant, I’d love to be your assistent, Kaito!”

“Great!”

Kaito quickly spun around, went over to a fairly open area on one side of the room, all but one of the doves flying off as he did so. With a snap of his fingers, a small puff of smoke appeared rose up and a white top hat appeared. He turned back to Aoko and extended an arm out beside him, grinning.

“Then, if you could just stand right here and hold this,” the hat was spun in the air, “And keep those two where they are,” he said, pointing to the birds on her shoulders.

ft-dc-fan:

Aoko’s cheeks started to flush. She was wondering, if he planned that from the start of his show or if it really was just a coincidence.

“Are you sure, that you want me as your assistant, Kaito?”

He surely knew that she was good in failing with many things she did. The least she wanted right now, was ruining his magic show in front of all these women.

“Of course! I am the one asking, aren’t I?”

Kaito used his extended hand to gently pick up the rose and place it in her hair, a couple of the doves hopping over to her shoulders as he did so. Then, he took a few steps back.

“But it’s up to you whether you want to fill that position.”

ft-dc-fan:

Aoko was really exited. She already could see that smile on his face, that she loved so much. Finally Kaito started his show and now eceryone was really excited.

“Go, Kaito!!”

Aoko shouted to him with a bright smile on her face, while waving to him.

A small wave of the hand and some cards appeared in Kaito’s hand. He showed them to the audience, revealing that all but one had a red rose on the faces, the lone one instead having a white rose.

“Now, you’ve all already seen one single-person performance today, so I hope you don’t mind if I choose an assistant for a bit of a change.”

He grinned and waved the cards a bit,

“And while I could just have everyone draw one of these, that wouldn’t be very magical, now would it? Instead…”

Kaito quickly hid the cards and crossed his arms. When he opened them, doves flew out, each carrying a rose.

“They will choose you! Whoever gets the white rose may join me in the show. Of course, if they’d rather not, that’s fine as well.”

The doves circled around the room a few times before finally landing in front of the women. When they had all delivered their roses, the birds returned to Kaito, lighting upon his arms and shoulders. The magician glanced around the room, laughing when he saw who had the white flower.

He walked up to said person, taking care not to jostle the birds too much, and extended a hand.

“Seems you’ve been chosen. So… do you mind taking a part in the show, Aoko?”

ft-dc-fan:

Aoko looked surprised at him. He really was getting into the performance in front of them. She thought for a few minutes and finally got an idea.

“Why don’t you ask them, if you could perform something yourself, Kaito?”

image

“I really would like to see some of your magic tricks again! Please, Kaito!”

It didn’t happened very often, that she begged for something, but she really loved his magic tricks. Especially the one with the doves. The doved that Kaito used there much cuter than other ones. Also Kait had that special smile were everyone just had to smile as well. She would give everything to see that smile on his face once again.

Kaito blinked. While he didn’t want to stand out much, it wasn’t too often that Aoko actually asked him to perform. After a moment of thought, he let out a grin.

“Sure, why not?”

When the magician seemed to be done with the show, Kaito went over to see if it was all right for him to do some magic of his own. It didn’t take very long for them to agree to it, and Kaito soon took the vacated spot on the floor.

“Hello, everyone! After seeing those tricks, I couldn’t help but want to some of my own, and the kind people of this cafe have graciously allowed me to do so. I don’t want to take up too much of your time, so…”

“…for my first trick…”

“…how about a bit of disguising?”

He winked at Aoko before starting the setup for the next one. Fun as being Seto was, it was much easier to perform as himself.

ft-dc-fan:

Aoko’s eyes widened in surprised. She, herself, didn’t expect a magic show in a cafe. It was so great as the magician started to perform him tricks. Looking over to Kaito, she could help herself but to smile even brighter.

“Keiko was right! This is so great! Don’t you think so too, Kaito?”

image

“Hmm… It is nice to see magic performed outside of an actual stage show, and I will admit, these are some decent tricks. However…”

His fingers twitched a bit as the performer made a couple of doves appear.

“…I bet I could provide much better entertainment…”

Kaito didn’t make a move to do anything, though. While he knew he could be rude at times, he didn’t really want to disrupt the person doing their job. Might not be best to bring much attention to himself while in this disguise either.

ft-dc-fan:

“You’ll see soon! Keiko said, that this cafe is great! She was the one who told me to bring you here as well.”

Just as Aoko said that, she show started. The lights were turned off and only a few spotlights were still on.

“It’s starting, Kaito!” She said in excitement.

Well, this certainly hadn’t been expected.

A smokescreen suddenly filled the area in front of them, quickly dissipating to reveal a masked person in a suit. They looked around the cafe before bowing.

“Welcome, esteemed ladies! I hope you all will enjoy today’s show!”

Kaito blinked a few times.

“A… magic show?”

ft-dc-fan:

As they entered the cafe, Aoko led him to a table, telling him to sit down. She sat down on a chair and looked around in excitement. It was the first time for her as well to be here.

image

“I’m so excited! What do you think of this place?”

After taking the seat across from her, Kaito looked around. It didn’t look all that different from other places he’d been to. Really, the only difference he could see was that there were only girls…

…And they all seemed to have roses at their tables. A bit interesting, though not too surprising, if the place only catered to females.

“It looks nice, though I’m not sure why I had to dress like this just to come here.”

ft-dc-fan:

“It doesn’t look weird at all!”

image

She reached out and took Kaito’s hand in her own, starteing to move forward.

“Now, let’s go inside! I’m sure you’ll like it!”

Kaito allowed himself to be led to the cafe, a small smile making its way onto his face. It was nice to see Aoko excited about something.

image

“Well, if the smell is anything to go by, it be hard for me to dislike the place.”

ft-dc-fan:

Aoko’s eyes widened in surprise. His disguise was just perfect. If she wouldn’t know, that the person in front of her was her best friend, she wouldn’t even have guessed that this is a boy.

“Wow, Kaito! This is just great! And you look really cute like this!”

She chuckled as she smiled at him.

image

Oh, if she thought he was cute now, she hadn’t seen anything yet. He softened his expression and changed his voice to the one he used for Seto.

“D-do you really think so? You’re sure it doesn’t look….. weird?”

ft-dc-fan:

image

“Well, I wanted to see how good you’re in disguising yourself, you know. I hope it’s alright for you.”

She tried her best to hide, why she really asked him to come here with her. If he’d know, that this actually was a date to her, he probably would leave right away. He isn’t really much into romantic stuff and she knew it.

A sigh. He should have guessed it was something like that. It had been awhile since he and Aoko had gone somewhere, and really, dressing as a girl wasn’t that bad.

“It’s fine. Still would have been nice to know beforehand…”

Kaito paused for a moment in thought. Then, he quickly glanced around to check that no one was looking and ducked into a nearby alley. He came out a second later.

“So? Do you think this will work?”

He normally didn’t use the same disguise too often, but he kept this one for whenever he might need to contact Jirokichi. Might seem a bit strange, but being recognisable while still being disguised had it’s uses sometimes, so long as only a limited number of people knew about it.
