ヽ(´ー`)ノ :What calms your muse down?

(Quiet and solitude, mostly. My Kaito does like going out to rooftops at night for the peace. When he has someone he trusts, then hugs, general physical comfort, and that one person’s company. And I do mean he has to trust them, else he’s more likely to hide that he needs to get calm than let them help, and it’s the same sort of mentality if there’s more people. If he needs to get calm, then by that time, he doesn’t want a crowd, and doesn’t want people to see him. Idle movement wouldn’t calm him, but it does help get rid of pent up energy, especially nervousness or stress, and is a good sign he’s trying to calm down if he’s not in a position to do it his normal way.

(Of course, he only does that as Kaito, so if he’s Kid and has that same energy, he’d be tense as all heck. If he’s in a situation where he needs to calm down as Kid, it’s more likely he won’t until he’s alone, or the only person around is someone he can try relaxing around.))

( ´Д`)ノ(´・ω・`) ナデナデ:Does your muse pat others on the head? If not, do they get pat on their head?

(Kaito’s not really the type to pat people on the head. Maybe children, in a ‘good job’ sort of situation, but normally no. When he’s comfortable with people, he’ll make casual contact, but otherwise, he really doesn’t touch people directly too often. Most people don’t pat his head either, and he’d probably find it strange if they did at random. Whether or not he’d be okay with it depends.)

(゚⊿゚) :Is your muse in denial a lot?

(Hmm… In some ways. Yes, but things he’d be in denial about… his opinion’s changed. He held is father in much to high of regard, and that regard carried over when he found out about Kid, and took hold in the area of magic. He’s tried to make his choice to become a thief just, and he didn’t like magic being compared to something underhanded. Basically he’s denied that he’s doing anything too bad, but the longer he’s Kid, the harder it is to defend himself. He has good reasons, everyone would be on his side, but events that have happened make him wonder whether if he’s doing more permanent harm than good. He’s also in denial that he has some serious emotional issues and that he’s lonely. Technically the whole ‘I have to do this’ is a huge denial he can’t even see, if you think too much about it.

But it’s up to interpretation whether that’s ‘a lot’ of denial or not. It’s an underlying problem, so it’s not something that comes to the surface much.)

(Should probably say while I’m thinking about it, my Kaito does tend to be more aware of his loneliness. Not normally, but the reason I do have a lot of random interactions at other people’s houses take place after heists is because that’s when he feels it most. Again, since my Kaito is more independent as the manga would indicate, and doesn’t have anything like a post-heist chat with Jii, he tends to go home himself, and after a heist full of people to come back to an empty home (with any targets always being failures), it does get to him. So, that’s why he’ll almost always be after a heist in popping up in people’s windows. Or, if he were more bold, through the front door. :V

(And aside from those, normal days would have him coming home after walking with Aoko or such, it’s more doing it in the dead of night after he’s been against everybody when it’s not the same level he can deal with. So yeah, if he’s not visiting, he might stay out a bit or at least on the roof or such. Not as bad in the open as it is surrounded by walls, though the ‘Kid cave’ isn’t so bad.))

image

(..You  know, Toichi probably is the reason Kaito’s so emotionally isolated and not social outside of Aoko. Not just with Kid and probably moving around a lot when he was younger, but… He kept Kaito with him more often. Didn’t let him stay with Aoko at that show, he picked him up and took him away to teach what poker face was. When Kaito did a trick and tried to be friendly towards Yukiko, Toichi picked him up and told him not to bother people. In the past, we can see Shinichi able to go off on his own and, is in fact, encouraged to. Kaito you only ever see with Toichi, outside of that one time with Aoko at the clocktower.

What if Kaito was encouraged not to talk to people? Be friendly, but not to trust? Toichi was clearly close, but… something went wrong, there… Have to wonder if he almost lost Kaito once from trusting someone and became overprotective, but Kaito doesn’t remember, what if it ties in with the fish phobia, what if someone tried to drown Kaito to where Toichi became so protective it was detrimental-:Edit: Actually, kidnapping is more likely, maybe the person kept him in a room with fish, to where he associated the experience with the things, especially since it also meat separation from his father and his phobia may have become worse after losing his dad…)

(If you don’t mind headcanons regarding other characters…)

(Still up to rpers/writers what they go with, to mention first, since these are just headcanons, but I get the feeling I could have a lot on most people in the MK world. (Would say DC, but uh…. too many characters :V )

Anyway, as far as Ginzo is concerned, he said he’d been chasing Kid since he was twenty. Which actually might mean Toichi is older than Ginzo? Since Chikage said ‘at a mere twenty years of age, you dominated the Grand Prix at Fism, the magicians’ Olympics… You were a young genius magician’, which more likely means that was past. Don’t know how much time past between the events, but since twenty has passed for him in his first appearance in Paris as Kid, Ginzo was probably younger than him to have started chasing him at that age. And who knows when the Kurobas actually started staying in Ekoda, so highly likely Ginzo and Toichi didn’t know each other before Kid.

However, Aoko and Kaito are the same age. (Meaning Toichi had a child later in his age than Ginzo did, but random information.) Toichi and Chikage had Kaito a year after Kid first appeared, and was likely busy being a Robin Hood at the time to overshadow Phantom Lady. I’d assume they’d already decided to move to Ekoda before then, but…. then Aoko and Kaito actually might have met sooner. So… it’s at least a bit likely Kaito stayed abroad for at least part of his young life before they settled in Ekoda. Ginzo’s ‘chasing Kid’ may have only happened a few times up until then, as Kid being international meant he didn’t only steal in Japan. (And probably not just Paris either.) So… in early life, whatever happened to Aoko’s mom, more likely he did spend time with Aoko, since Kid wouldn’t have been a constant presence.

Also probably didn’t help Kaito lean how to make permanent friends any better, if he’d been moving around a lot, makes sense he’d stick with Aoko when he could. General friendliness from wanting to interact while he could? I get the feeling Ginzo was the type who took Aoko around with him if work wasn’t anything dangerous, so Kid heists he probably did bring her to until he did have to go, if no one could look after her. Which is more likely how the two could meet, Kaito’s dad also involved because heist and both probably having to wait about the same amount of time.

(And just to say, no danger from the org for a very long time, it was safe to think Kaito would be fine being brought. They knew Toichi’s name and occupation, scary to be sure, but they thought Kaito was still Toichi and believed a warning would make him stop? I’ve said before a while back, but I don’t think they saw Toichi as a threat, and got rid of him soon after he started causing trouble, so at most, the last two years of his thieving career. Closer to a year.)

After Kid stopped, Ginzo probably did have time for Aoko, though it probably wasn’t the most peaceful. Kid disappearing all of the sudden, and if he did suspect Toichi by then (possible, he had more suspicious points than Kaito does), he probably put a lot of attention into looking into that ‘accident’. To a point he did transfer to homicide detective for a time, and might have gotten busier there. I don’t think Kid made him obsessed, I think losing Kid made him obsessed. Only when Kid showed up again did it get incredibly worse, either in thinking Toichi was back or trying to catch the one who was just using the name. (More likely the former, with how happy he was.)

Which is why it makes more sense for Aoko to feel victimized by Kid now, rather than in the past. The being left on her own likely didn’t happen until the later years leading up to Kid’s return. If neglect had happened earlier, I doubt Aoko would be so attached to her father to care too much, and could grow to dislike him. (Or her being sweet, loved her father because he’s her only family, despite anything, hat path comes with slightly disturbing thinking of putting up with neglect just for that, so take whichever way. Either way, Kaito did probably make the problem worse in bringing Kid back to life.)

….And I’ll make another post about thoughts regarding Toichi later, on Spider’s blog. Since the way of thinking goes against what Kaito would see, being bias in favour of his father.)

(Should say on the whole, for those he is close enough to to possibly be getting sexual attraction, he’ll probably still feel off about the whole idea unless they do know his identity. Can be tempted to, as Kid (since that’s who he knows people as outside of the MK cast, usually), and he’ll tease, but actually doing anything and he’ll mentally freeze up. Kaito’s less restriction there and more guilt if they don’t know who they’re involved with. Why as Kaito, he’s more likely to stay friends for a long time before it goes further, and with Kid it’s more teasing than anything serious. Not because he wouldn’t want to, but because his double life and how he does like keeping them separate interferes immensely with relationships. So it’s a huge step when he does tell/show someone who he is in either direction.

And maybe slight bias in that he can be more okay with sex with guys even under that circumstance, but that’s less gender discrimination so much as, if anything happened or goes wrong, is can have worse consequences and he doesn’t want the only way of being told to be through Kid. Or get them dragged into anything under Kid without them knowing.

(And of course exceptions to this would be other selves, though he doesn’t immediately jump to that sort of thinking anyway, it’d be a mutual leaning, else he’s just friendly and will hug you at random. And Hakuba, just for actually being the only person Kaito’s semi-comfortable around who canonically knows what he’d be getting into. (Side Not: You’re on a fine enough line already, Akako, not really on best terms though when you’ve used magic multiple times and tried to kill him. Kiiinda puts people off, just to say. Thanks for the save that one time, though.)))

(Since I’ve never really written many of my Kaito’s headcanons here (specifically for Kai, not just over the series and character in general)… A few notes. Since they’re the type of things that vary from Kaito to Kaito.

Mine is panromantic demisexual. Tends to be friendly and will flirt (more as Kid than Kaito) with anyone he likes, but he’s more ‘I’ll tease you but let’s cuddle’ if it goes beyond general niceties than ‘I want to have sex’. Or anything sexual. However, if he does get into more of a romantic relationship with someone where sex is involved, he can and will lean more in teasing about that and overall not minding anything and wanting it with that one particular person at times. (Cuddles still required.)

– On that note, he will melt if given back rubs. He gives them himself, to his other selves and people he’s close to that might need the relaxing, but also because he thinks it feels great himself.

He makes sure to get enough sleep, aside from a little lost when planning for heists, though he may take a nap before them if he feels he needs to. Kaito’s stayed up all night after a heist before because of police measures, and Hakuba got some evidence that led to him when he did three heists in a row and started getting a little sloppy in what he did. And both of those happened before the whole Pandora thing came out, he doesn’t want to be impaired in the slightest in case he’s met with guns on a heist. He’d rather stay alert and awake, thank you.

He will always have a scar on his right shoulder from the fight with the robot (even if the manga doesn’t seem to give him one…), and he has a few side injuries from guns, though not too scarred beyond those. Enough to where it’s odd, since any normal kid shouldn’t have multiple gun wounds, but not enough to where it’s completely noticeable. (Might also have a scar where the bullet skimmed his arm from the Red Tear, since it could have been deep enough and he couldn’t get to it immediately afterward.)

His phobia does make him uncomfortable around fish, but he can handle watching them, to an extent. Can ‘handle’ being near them. He just doesn’t want to touch the things, and will freak out if he does. So long as it gets off, it’s more limited to a funny reaction and ‘keep it away from me’… But if contact is kept, or he feels surrounded by them without an escape, he’ll probably start panicking. (Happened to my Kai only once so far, in Skype RP, when someone (ignorant of the phobia) pushed him facefirst into a small pond that had fish that were being fed. Was not good.)

Kid is a persona of both strength, slightly on the reckless side, in ways he can’t show as Kaito. Also defensive, though not in personality. As Kid, Kaito has a better poker face than usual, though it’s not completely perfect like his dad’s even now. (His dad’s being a confident smile in all situations, at most the only change being a disapproving frown.) Even as Kid, he’s far more expressive than the previous, though can reign in more behind the monocle, or even just the persona of the thief, and act with more confidence than he can normally. So he can go into a ‘Kid mode’ when at times. And reckless in that he can openly taunt authority and danger, as well as try more, than he can as a normal high school teen.

My Kaito is for more open to chatting with random people than is canon Kaito, since canon Kaito really isn’t that social. Though, for my take, it’s more because not much draws canon Kaito’s attention like rp scenarios are designed to do. He did take note of an old man doing magic, and the kids playing around as heros (and one familiar thief), so it’s not as though he’s not interested at all in interactions, it’s just that he normally has no reason to. …Though even then, my Kaito still leans more friendly than canon probably would.

And my Kaito’s relationship with Chikage and Jii is one where they’re more assistants. Jii especially, nothing like the anime where the man seems to do the recon and planning, my Kaito does that on his own. He just might get Jii when he needs a ride or the extra person to pull it off, and Jii does tend to remain on standby if plans need adjusting at the heist. His mom is still his mom, though of course he didn’t have the same connection to her as with his dad, though they both still care about each other. My general Chikage is looking into gems internationally to help out, and keeps in contact from time to time, though mostly with Jii because Kaito’s active and busy with school and heists. I personally think she’s moved on from Toichi’s death long ago, of course not forgetting him or anything, but healthy moving past it, and is mostly cheerful and seems laid back about things to try and help Kaito through, since he clearly hasn’t moved on. (And sure, general series headcanon, she did pull something similar to when Yukiko and Yuusaku disguised as enemies to get Conan to consider to stop looking into the organisation. Still not sure if she disguised herself or if Corbeau was a friend of hers helping out, but the bet on who would quit stealing was to get Kaito to stop his dangerous night life, without being obvious about it. In a way what pride he had would have made him accept the terms, even if he wouldn’t have been happy with himself. And maybe angry enough to challenge Corbeau again if he had lost at that time.)

In general, he will actually act in that he just considers Conan a kid way too smart for his age. Usually changes very soon depending on how often the other muns take movies into canon and interact with him in return. (Hehe, I don’t think many noticed that in the slightest. Mostly because it does quickly go to ‘I know you know’, and will stay like that the remainder of interactions. V: ) In essence with that, though, my Kaito is more based around the manga, and to an extent, the specials. So he does not live next door to Aoko, he technically doesn’t know Shinichi=Conan in all cases, and Blue Birthday happened after a lot had already occurred. He also can and does steal more than just gems, though usually for different reasons, and gems are still the most common thing he’s after now. But he will not hesitate to point out gems aren’t the only thing he’s stolen, he’s not tied down to the excuses the anime shoved in to explain why he stole a painting, a crown, a vanity box, and tried stealing a statue, none of which originally had gems. He as a muse just adapts to routes other people turn towards.

All the chocolate and cuddles. Yes, that is all for now.)

(Something about Toichi’s hidden room I never noticed before, since my image is still the one from the specials, for the most part.)

(The specials have it well lit, shiny steel and white, a workbench, the hidden closet behind the large mirror (without the lights around it, though another with), and overall looks clean and organised, if a little that it’s more like an office space you’d rarely come to except to work. Despite the jukebox and game.)

(The newer anime feels emptier, though still clean and orderly, with everything in shelves, but also more comfortable and a place to relax. Like, ‘I’m just going to chill here for a while before I need to grab my things and leave’.)

(Even Kaito is fine sitting there (listening to his father’s words).)

(Which is why I find it hilarious, looking back, to see the room is a mess of stuff everywhere. Very little space, miscellaneous items eveywhere, mice having set up a home, cracks in the wall. Very much a basement work area, and more busy and used. Not just Kid stuff, I can see Toichi practicing his magic in general down here, as well as researching various things. And the heck is up with that instrument (Cello? Did he play that, maybe?) behind the stairs in the top picture? Side note, stairs. And not ones that take him back to the painting room like in the anime, no, those go somewhere else, where, we’ll never know. The bottom one is a little messier, with things on the ground and toolbox open, since Kaito’s been there a while, doing the job himself, things were moved around.

…But something else I find interesting in the top picture, when the room was how Toichi left it… This will be delving more into headcanon right now, but there’s what looks to be a wine bottle and a cup on the small tale in the lower left. Might not mean anything, but I have to wonder why they’d be left out, if he even thought he might die. So… I don’t think he expected it at all. Most of the room looks lived in, as if he expected to come back to it. But he did leave a message, and the lock was set… My theory says Chikage took care of that. Toichi knew he could die at any time, but wanted to wait until Kaito was old enough to say anything, so he made a recording at some point in the event he did die. Chikage, after the murder, set the time on the lock and cassette and shut the room off. Because she was also aware when the room was opened, and didn’t go to check on Kaito after she knew it was, not because Toichi had set that into place, but because she had and knew Toichi wanted to tell Kaito the truth himself.)

(…After the Movie 3 post about Kaito landing on the building he flew over, and seeing the DC Rewatch question about the circumstance, I feel the need to explain more of why I came up with that as the explanation. Though I’ll say right off that I can’t defend Kaito’s not getting injured by the bullet entirely, much like Conan really shouldn’t have been able to take the force of one up close at all later. Kid at least got affected by that force, but unless it just managed to hit the rim of his monocle to break it, but put the bullet off enough not to actually hit him… yeah, he should have at least gotten a scratch to his cheek there from a glancing hit. Maybe he covered it up, though, we don’t know. Kaito’s luck and Conan defying physics aren’t easy to even try and explain.

How and where he fell, however, is a different story.

First off: Why I believe he fell in the building (which looks to be an aquarium).

Main point: He did fly over it. And because of that, most likely had to land there.

image

He’s heading for it in this picture.

image

And it’s where Scorpion is aiming.

image
image

Scorpion holds the gun directly in front.

image

And is facing parallel to the bridge. Which goes directly to that building. If Kid had been anywhere but over it, either to Scorpion’s left, closer to the water, or beyond the building to Kid’s right as he approaches, Scorpion wouldn’t have been able to get a shot. And we know that’s the bridge Conan runs under while chasing Kid. Which leads to another thing.

image
image

After passing under the bridge, Conan made a turn and down another way to get to the water. Right beside it. And while I don’t have another screenshot handy, you can see he’s near enough to a building to see the steps. Very likely the same building that’s the center of all of this.

image

So, via bad paint skills, this is likely Conan’s path. Now, since the shot was taken parallel to the bridge, Kid’s position was not one that would have allowed him to make it to the water. It doesn’t look that far on here, but it’s enough to cause a problem, and remember, at the time, his glider was of absolutely no use. The frame had broken, and wouldn’t be able to glide at all. He’d not be able to go vertical enough to reach the water from there in a freefall, he’d hit the pavement. Hence why it’s more likely he landed on the building he was shot above. It’s closer, being high up. And he may have gotten a bit of vertical distance, but not enough to carry him to the water.

image

So I personally believe he just landed close enough for things to be thrown over, out of sight of the shooter, and to where people would think he wasn’t where he was. Police and Conan thought he landed in the water, and maybe Scorpion as well. I doubt anyone actually checked the building, or, if they did, Kaito would have had time to get out while the police mobilised from ‘Kid heist prep mode’ to ‘search for the possibly drowned thief’ mode.

Again, can’t speak for the bullet, but I really, really don’t think he ever made it to that water at all.)

kkrazy256:

What I really want to know is what happened in the twenty four hours after this scene.

Because I went through this frame by frame and the glider was nearly completely torn off his body. He was spinning, tumbling and free-falling. This was not a safe landing.

image

“Aha..ha… That was not fun… But if you don’t mind a theory, I can try to give an explanation that makes sense.”

First off, there are inconsistencies in the scene anyway. I’m nowhere near the water at that point, and yet dropped the box with the egg in it. Soo…”

image

“How could it end up here closer to the water for tantei-kun to see? With only the lid smashed and the egg perfectly fine laying up nice and pretty? You’re right, the frame of my glider was broken from the force of the bullet throwing the balance off, so I couldn’t have made it that far. Also”

image

“You see here that my monocle completely breaks in two. The frame and glass.”

image

“But just the glass is broken here. Hmm…”

image

“And this is what tantei-kun saw after the shot had been fired and my glider destroyed. And the figure moves perfectly steady here.”

image

“To actually try and explain all of this, I’m just going to use one picture.”

image

“This. That building there that I’m heading towards is right across from where Scorpion was aiming. You can see the bridge in this shot as well. …Can’t actually see the shooter, but I did later. It’s fairly obvious when there’s a lone figure standing in a completely empty area with no cars or people.

Anyway, that’s what I was gliding over when I was shot. And that’s where I landed. Not nearly as high of a fall, and very easy to survive with minimal damage. Luck? Perhaps, though getting shot at in the first place is never lucky… But from there, everything would have landed fairly close together. The dummy was sent off without anything, to make people think I had fallen somewhere else, and I had my dove take the egg and monocle down. I wish I’d had another method, since she had gotten injured slightly in the fall, but she could glide down safely enough.

So, not nearly as bad as you may think. Basically just got a sprained wrist, which wasn’t the most fun. Better than what could have happened. Most of the time was spent looking into how to get close to the egg again and make sure everyone else could be kept safe. Which led to research into Shiratori-keiji as well. Basically, everything was set up to make Scorpion believe I was dead/missing/injured and not be suspicious.”
