ââŚâŚ Mmm, so youâre now saying, in some really weird way, that if one of us dies then things just sorta keep going and nobody realizes that a Kaito sorta⌠vanished? Dropped dead? Bit the dust, all that? And that âcause I found my Pandora, I made all of us harder to kill?
âI donât follow that last bit. Iâm the only one who has immortality. Aaaaand even then it isnât absolute. I have at least one death condition that Iâm aware of. Itâs not like Iâm sharing my lifeforce or whatever with all the other Kaitos.
âAlso, I donât know why I did what I did. It just sort of happened. I didnât mean it.â
â… Not really. People would notice if, say one of us died in front of them. And if no other Kaito is sharing the universe at the time, then itâd still be noticed in world as a whole. Just the crossing over makes it more likely for there to be more than one in the same dimension.
And you attaching Pandora to yourself didnât change anything about the rest of us. When I say âcollective Kaitosâ, I mean if we think in terms of all Kaitos as a whole. Umm… a being made up of smaller versions of itself, if you will. Killing one of its parts would make it smaller, until you completely get rid of it.
The individual versions are us without dimension crossing. The larger being is all of us together with the crossing, in terms of existence. With us together, weâre harder to be destroyed.
You using Pandora strengthened a part of the being. Not all of it, just one unit. If we all did that, the being would be impossible to kill. Never said itâd be impossible to kill the ones who use Pandora, just makes it a lot harder. Itâd still be best if none of us died normally, though, immortality stone or not…
The last part… If Pandora was gone from all the worlds, there wouldnât be any dimension crossing. Period. And no chance for âimmortalityâ. You choose not to destroy it, so people still can even if all the others might be destroyed. If we all do what we set out to, youâre the one thatâd still be letting people talk to alternate selves, because Pandora would still exist. Itâs not entirely a good or bad thing…â
âTry me,â it wasnât as if he could beat the   whole âI was given a pill and forced to   shrinkâ thing. Oh, but he was wrong.   There was an even worse answer than   that, and one that took Conan completely   by surprised. Twitching and clenching   his fists, he felt his aggravation flare.
âIdiot, magic isnât real!â
âYou arenât the one whoâs been on the bad side of a witch using voodoo to give you internal bleeding and trapped you in a magic circle.â
Oh yes, just say that so casually, totally believable. Though to the magicianâs credit, nothing in his tone is saying he was joking, and he seems to be completely serious about the absurd response.
The confetti went unnoticed because there   was something very wrong with what   Conan was seeing in front of him. Kaitou   KID was not an actual child, yet there he   was â almost the same height and   sporting the same annoying attitude.
âNo.  .  . Maybe,â he shook his head and   scowled, âbut why are you a kid?â
âIâve always been a Kid, technically.â So much tease. âBut an actual explanation would be… a little difficult to give…â
Kaito shrugged, looking off to the side a moment before a wide grin spread across his face.
âIâm a magician, so clearly itâs a work of magic~â
“Thatâs the worst part – she wonât even admit to having done the crime. Now Iâm on a wild goose chase for evidence to make her confess, and itâs gotten completely out of hand.” He sighed loudly. Things were not looking good, especially because the only hard evidence that he had, the fact that he saw her actually do it, belonged to âKIDâ and not âKaitoâ. And he could only go to the authorities as Kuroba, else he risked being questioned himself.
Evid- Do they really have to go that far just to get an apology?
“Sounds like it. I get that someone might not want to admit to doing that to a building, but when it causes trouble for something unrelated, they should at least apologise for that. It’s not like her saying something like that to you would mean much against her, since even if she admitted guilt to you because it upset your doves, you can’t catch her with that. It’d just be your word against hers if she denied it.”
The thief sighed and crossed his arms. Really, and he thought he made things more complicated… Well, technically his other self was, so somewhat the same thing.
“It’s not like they’re normally is much evidence for something like that… Even if you saw them, it’d be useless without proof, really… Don’t suppose the paper was still intact or not thrown away? Unless she was wearing gloves, you can still get prints and such from that.”
…Oh, jeeze, that person was right. He did sound like a detective… Must’ve been influenced at some point…
“…I haven’t, and most likely won’t, unless something unexpected happens. I do prefer casual interactions to just sex, unless the one I’m with is easy to have both with.”
