Hakuba tilted his head a little. The other seemed distracted, no that wasn’t the right word either. He looked around, wondering if Spider was around and a spike of worry lanced his chest but everything seemed quiet, and Nakamori was most likely still chasing a double. So why was he acting so strange. Maybe he hadn’t wanted Hakuba to come? Was that it, was he getting in the way of something?
Or did he just not want to see him?
He frowned softly and watched his body language a little more carefully. He was a bit jumpy and twitchy. The others voice was strained, and he looked tense. He didn’t move away from him, or come closer. He was also watching him intently, it made him feel a bit nervous. A light bulb went off in his head and he realized that the other was nervous as well. But about what?
“KID, is everything alright?” He frowned a little more and took a step towards him. “Why are you nervous?”
Kid unconsciously took half a step back, a small, barely heard hiss coming from his mouth before he could stop it. A gloved hand immediately went to cover the sound, eyes widening in surprise.
He hadn’t meant to do that. And now the trapped tail was wanting to lash about from the embarrassment and… fear?

…He’d really been more badly affected by the last time the neko-mimi had shown up than he’d thought… Probably because Hakuba had left him so quickly, after he’d been happy and content with being with him. He knew it hadn’t been his detective’s fault. And he still didn’t blame him… But the worry that it might happen again appeared to have inadvertently associated with the ears and tail. They got the other teen’s attention… but both times, with real and fake add ons, had taken Hakuba out of where he was comfortable. Had hurt him, even, though the ears hadn’t been the direct cause that time he was a ‘pet’… They’d still been there.
And he didn’t want something else to happen.
…Even if the moments before things went wrong those times had been nice….
“…I-It’s nothing, tantei. Just… a little under the weather,” the thief replied, trying to relax and sound normal. Not that it was working very well.
He turned away from his detective to start walking over to the roof edge.
“I do appreciate you coming, but I don’t really want to trouble you with it, so… I- I’ll just take my leave now…”
