“Wait… I do have my other self’s number… If I were to call it, would it just call my house? Is there some sort of dimension crossing extension line I have to do? I mean, I visit enough anyway, so it’s not like I need to use it, but… Can’t help but wonder…”
“I vote Spider getting the invasive question meme. Who’s with me?”
“Well, I think ya could say so. It’ more like ma friend knows him. She’ his childhood best friend. She were talkin’ a lot ‘bout him an’ showed ma many pictures, tha’ why I though’ ya would be him.”, she said with a kind of forced smile.
She still felt bad for mistaking him with someone else. He surely must have thought, that she must be a weird fangirl or something.
Ah… A friend of Mouri-chan, probably. That would explain it…
The magician brought up a hand to try and not-quite hide a small laugh. It was easy enough to tell that the girl was uncomfortable with making the mistake, but she really shouldn’t be. Especially if she hadn’t even met the person she’d mistaken him for.
“I see. She must talk about him a lot, if you had a good enough impression of him to think you’d recognise him.” A grin. “Well, at the very least, you found his doppelganger.”
He was trying to diffuse the awkwardness, though in the back of his mind, the part-time thief said it would be better to end the conversation quickly and leave. A friend of Mouri-chan meant Conan knew her. And there didn’t need to be information that Kudo Shinichi had a lookalike in the Tokyo area getting to him…
Conan kept the unamused expression on his face, but his mind was beginning to whirl — try being insanely interested without appearing so. Go ahead. He’ll wait.
Poking his head back out the window and tossing the thief a glare, he considered for a moment what the consequences would be should he listen to the idea: he could get suckered into participating, yet again, in a childish competition that would likely end in disaster. If he didn’t listen, however, Hattori was likely to call him and tell him, anyway.
Either way, he was going to end up annoyed. And any chance to show-up Hattori was a welcomed chance.
”Tell me more, first.”
Kid tried hiding most of the smirk that wanted to come up. Might not have completely succeeded, but, oh well. It looked like he’d gotten the other’s curiosity.
“It wouldn’t be nearly as fun to tell you everything, tantei-kun.~ But I will say this. Whoever wins can have me do one thing for them. Barring giving away my identity, of course. And I don’t mean stealing, unless you tanteis just really want me too. Possibly collecting information, using my disguise skills, or something else… not necessarily breaking the law. An interesting prize, don’t you think?”
Of course. He was just an innocent passerby, not a renowned thief that seemed to enjoy annoying the little detective. Crossing his arms and letting them settling atop the window sill, Conan allowed himself to get comfortable while kneeling on Kogoro’s uncomfortable mattress.
”Yes.” He muttered. Clearly, the thief wasn’t welcome.
He let out a small laugh at the small detective’s reply.
“Very well, then. I was wondering if you might be interested in playing a little game I was planning on having soon. The other tanteis will be invited as well, though I haven’t yet asked them…”
Hakuba used the flinch to spread his legs, shifting himself so he could lock his knees around KID’s thighs. Once there he reached up to grab the others shoulders and flipped them, pinning Kid down under him. He then removed the thief tie, quickly and wrapped it around his neck in a quick slip knot and pulled, tightening it just enough to show dominance.
“What’s the matter thief? You can dish it, but you can’t take it?” Hakuba chuckled, though there was no laughter in it, it was almost a dark chuckle. “Pathetic, and you actually thought you could come in here and fuck me?” Hakuba sat down on KID much as the other had sat on himself and looked down at him. “You dirtied my hands with your saliva, you ground down against me, roughed me up a bit. I think I deserve a little compensation.”
He tightened the neck tie just enough for it to become uncomfortable, and to let the other knew to stay still. He then quickly swiped away the monocle, grabbing it in his hand, and knocked the hat off in the process.
“Kuroba Kaito.”
Kid knew he’d made a mistake as soon as the detective managed to get ahold of his shoulders. He tried to push the other back down, or away, or something, but he’d just barely managed to raise his hands before he was forcibly pulled under the teen, eyes closing as the breath was knocked out of him and he was pinned.
He managed to open them just in time to see Hakuba pull off his tie, sending a panic through him. He struggled to try and push back, but froze when the cloth was tied around his neck.
It wasn’t so much the makeshift noose that made him stop, though. It was the detective. This was not normal Hakuba, nor was it the newer angry one. This one was different.
And very cold.
A small sound escaped him when the other sat on top of him, and his eyes narrowed, opening his mouth to retort when the tightening of the tie cut him off.
His eyes shut at the hand suddenly coming at his face, but it wasn’t the type of attack he expected. His blood went cold when he felt the monocle being removed and his eyes snapped back open to glare daggers at the other. He knew he couldn’t try evading it, especially as the detective was right now.
He didn’t like it.
The unspoken rule of only trying to unmask him at a heist had been broken by the very one who had set it up.
But he wasn’t going to give this Hakuba the satisfaction of seeing just how worried he was about it.
“…Oh yes, I’m sure you’re quite proud of yourself to know you weren’t crazy in thinking your classmate was a world famous thief. Like it would help you much, since you still can’t prove it to anyone.”
Though the ice pack itself sounded like a nice idea, he would have to disinfect it before hand, and would rather go himself. Of course he wouldn’t want to go alone either, just in case something were to happen, but it wasn’t like he could ask the other for help. It would hurt his pride. Though his head was starting to sting more, and the pain became a constant throb.
Hakuba sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose before slowly getting to his feet.
“You can help escort me to the nurses office.” He would probably be better off laying down on one of the beds while he put the ice on it. “I do not want to go alone, in case I somehow managed to give myself a concussion.
Kaito turned his eyes to the detective, and he couldn’t help but give a bit of a smile. Of course Hakuba wouldn’t ask for help. But it also seemed like he wasn’t as angry, at least.
”…Fine with me. Though, I’d think you’re faaaar too hard headed to get a concussion that easily.“
Okay, teasing the other might not be the best when trying to be helpful, but it might distract from the pain, somewhat…
The magician took a step back and swept his arm out to the side, taking a small bow and grinning at the other teen.
