That… His other self should be able to know what happened, right? Might take a little while, but he had the jewel from his…
No, wait. Probably shouldn’t bring that with him right now. There don’t need to be two magician cats. He should work on getting the other to figure out he’s not a normal cat, first… Hmm…
…That might work… Okay, now to get Kaito’s attention first. Shouldn’t be too hard, considering how he looked right now…
He quickly darted in front of his counterpart, hopping on one of his shoes when he finished taking a step. At the very least, should get him to stop moving…
Kaito wasn’t an expert on cats, but that head shake looked too human-like a response to see on an animal outside of a movie aimed at kids. It could always just be a coincidence, but then the cat, well-
“You want me to follow you?” Was he being recorded or something?
Kaito gave a mental sigh and nodded, and if anything said ‘not a normal cat’ that might. Yes, yes he did want the other to follow. He meowed again and continued walking, heading for the park. There wasn’t much he could do as he was here and now, but he should be able to communicate better with more to work with there.
Most importantly in his mind, the sandbox. Because when he gets there, the first thing the newly turned cat thief will do is draw the Kid symbol as best he can with his paws after leveling and clearing off a spot.
…Well, not the worst thing a heist target could do…
Consequences of looking for cursed gems, he supposed. But that doesn’t help when the thief needs something like, oh, opposable thumbs to actually hold the dang thing. It was too large to fit in his mouth, too. As it was, he focused on trying to move it along with his paws, maybe at least get it somewhere hidden before he tries to find out what to do. If he needed the jewel to reverse his sudden change of species, might not be the best idea to let it be returned just yet.
…Though moving something shiny around like this probably wasn’t the best idea either. It’s getting really distracting…
…Yep. Gonna play with the shiny.
Tail waving happily behind him, Kaito hopped on the stone, causing it to roll away along the ground, though it didn’t take long before he chased it down to catch it with his paws.
And before too long, his ears twitched. Footsteps. He looked up, standing defensively over the gem, ears back at the approaching figure. No. His shiny. Wait, no, jewel. His jewel. Still didn’t want people taking it, but should probably try to not get so distracted…
Heiji chuckled and moved to pick up the kitten. Okay so getting scratched might not be so bad if he could get the little thing to eat. And honestly he would have felt bad if he left it up here by itself.
“Looks like yer comin with me.” He said. “ ‘cause I ain’t leavin ya behind ta starve.”
He blinked, then hissed as the detective reached down to pick him up, not running or scratching. Instead, he tried, largely unsuccessfully to get the jewel in his paws at least, but it didn’t get far before falling to the ground again.
At that, Kaito did unsheathe his claws, struggling to get out. Really, he had nothing against the other for trying to help. If anything, he’d be grateful for Hattori’s thoughtfulness towards a random cat in this situation… Just not when his actions could separate him from the one decent lead on getting back to normal, and for that matter, preferably when said cat wasn’t formerly himself.
Kaito immediately jumped off the bed, a tiny thump sounding when he hit the floor, and ran to the front of the house. He’d been getting worried since he’d gotten back from the heist, since his detective needed to take care of some work afterward. Didn’t help when he had troubles like this…
But it didn’t matter, he’d returned, if the front door opening gave any indication. And Kaito’s just going to run up and start rubbing against his leg, worry about being a cat momentarily pushed aside from being happy to see his detective.
Hakuba hummed softly and gave him another kiss on the top of his head, hand running up and down his body, slowly, in a soft rhythm, though Hakuba was close to sleep himself.
Kaito slowly rubbed his cheeks against his detective before yawning and giving in to the drowsiness. So relaxed, comfortable, warm, safe… He curled up on Saguru’s chest, purring fading off as the petting and gentle rising and falling with the other breathing took him off to sleep.

Hakuba smiles and scratched the top of his head, slowly and softly. “Yes, I love you too, Kaito.” He closed his eyes and relaxed, putting an arm behind his head as he did, enjoying the purring.
Enjoy all you like. Kitten Kaito wasn’t going to stop anytime soon. At least not until he falls asleep. Right now, though, he enjoyed the scratching before scooting further up Saguru until he could lick his face, eyes closed and smiling.

Kaito looked down when he felt a sudden weight on his foot.
“My foot’s not a chair. You’re a brave one, aren’t you?” And so small. It looked too young to be alone. “Are you lost?”
Yes! Got his attention. Good first step. Now…
Kaito looked up at his other self, ears twitching and head tilting slightly before he shook it. Lost, no. Just having a problem. Though, responding to the question like that definitely wasn’t normal cat behaviour.
He stepped off the other, since there wasn’t any need to try and balance there now that the magician saw him, and pawed some at his leg before walking in one direction, looking back shortly, meowing and flicking his tail to get the other to follow.
Kaito immediately jumped off the bed, a tiny thump sounding when he hit the floor, and ran to the front of the house. He’d been getting worried since he’d gotten back from the heist, since his detective needed to take care of some work afterward. Didn’t help when he had troubles like this…

Hakuba laughed softly and placed a kiss to his forehead. “Come now, it’s not every time, I get to tease you without you being able to tease back.” He smiled and laid back on the bed. “Though I will miss your arms around me as I sleep.”
Yeah, yeah, he knows… And it’s appreciated, because at least Saguru treated him like himself enough too tease, for all of how he looked right now.
Kaito made a soft, happy sound at the kiss, then purred louder. And he just walked, then kneaded his detective a little before settling down on the other’s chest and rubbed his face against him. Wouldn’t be the same, but he could still show he was there, even if too small to hold the one he loved.

Hakuba chuckled and continued to pet Kaito.
Hakuba did love cats, a lot, they were he second favorite, birds being first. They were independent animals who were clean and were capable of taking care of themselves. Unlike dogs who slobbered over everything and chewed up perfectly good shoes. He was happy Kaito, if he had to be changed into anything, got turned into a cat.
“Will we have to litter box train you?” He teased as he leaned down to nuzzle his kittenized boyfriend. “I have a feeling if you try and use the toilet, you’ll fall in.”
Kaito lightly swatted at his detective for the tease, though still purring strong. So he may have considered trying to use the toilet, since it could be done, but going in the box, while embarrassing to consider, wouldn’t be that difficult. No, this cat could do quite well trying things on his own in that respect, Saguru, jeeze…

Hakuba smiled as he continues to give him scratches before petting him, from head to tail. He looked over at the supplies, which he would set up in his room. He moved so Kaito was being held with one hand and grabbed the bags, heading upstairs. “It seems you haven’t lost your affection.” He chuckled softly, using his elbow and hip to open the door.
Once inside he dropped the bags down and closed the door behind him, sitting on his bed.
“You missed me then?”
Kaito kept purring and nuzzling, though his eyes widened as he was carried. He’s quickly coming to figure out why many cats don’t like to be held, because, aside from manhandling in general, it does feel strange to not have much stability.
But he got used to it, shifting a little to get more comfortable as they went to the room, nuzzling some again at the affection comment. Nope, haven’t lost that at all~
Once Saguru sat down, Kaito nodded and meowed before moving to rub his head against his detective’s chest. He’d envied cats a bit for being so laid back and without too many worries, but it wasn’t too much fun to be one after being human. Size change, hard to do anything with no hands, and just everything felt so different, for all that it was the same place.
Yes, he missed his detective. Comfort, safety, trust, and he just loved the other so much for being here.

Hakuba let out a breath as he came home and closed the door behind him. His arms were full of bags, as he’s needed to pick up things for his new guest. Well, the guest wasn’t new, it was his boyfriend Kuroba Kaito, who was currently in the form of a cat, something that had taken him a bit to come to terms with, but there was just too much evidence for it.
His life.
Hakuba nearly tripped over the grey cat that was rubbing against his legs and he skipped and hopped but was able to make it to the living room where he could put down the bags in his arms and picks up the excited cat. He held him against his chest and gently scratched behind his ears – he couldn’t help it – and smiled softly at the ball of fur.
“Yes, I’m home. And I brought everything we’ll need. Wet cat food – no fish – a water and food dish, a kitty liter box, scratching post for your claw, and some toys for when I’m away.”
Kaito purred and rubbed against his detective, perfectly fine with being picked up, and… well, while he hadn’t always wanted to be scratched and pet when he just had ears and a tail, as a full cat, he accepted it without much protest. Saguru made him feel a lot more safe about being like this. Not as sure how he felt about the supplies, but he knew they’d be needed right now. Though, don’t put it past the magician to try and do some things he would normally on his own, cat or not.
However, he nuzzled the other right now. Definitely hadn’t lost any of his cuddle instinct in the change. At all.
…Not sure what to think of seeing the dragon right now… On the one hand, he seemed nice enough while Kaito had been human. But… just… uncertain now that he was a much smaller cat…
He looked up at the other, tail waving slowly behind him, slightly wary. Maybe the other could understand cat language?
Umm… hi?
Yeah I remember him….you’re him.
Well this was a surprise. Real magic hadn’t seemed to be as prominent in this world compared to the dragon realms. At least not enough that someone would be turned into a cat. Guess he misjudged the place.
So you want help being changed back right? I can’t really do anything but Bianca or the fairies might be able to help. If we could find any of them. Do you know anyone here who might be able to change you back?
Fairies? …Well, if dragons existed, and magic, why not those too? Okay…
Kaito nodded at the wanting help, then sat down in front of the dragon as he considered.
Hmm… I do know a witch who might be able too… But I’d honestly try some things on my own before asking her help. I wouldn’t be surprised if she just tried to keep me for a pet…But aside from her, most people I know aren’t exactly quick to believe magic exists, much less be able to do something about it.
The magician smiled as well he could. So… What are the chances of finding one of your fairy friends?
