36. I really want the D.
“I really want the D!” He blurted out, before smacking his head. Where had that even come from? No, no he does not want the D, doesn’t want any D, barely wanted his own D. Grimaced. Okay, enough thinking about that. Undoubtedly KID was staring at him like he had just grown a second head, but he wasn’t about to look up to check.
“-iamond.” He tried to cover, miserably. “I really want the diamond you took.”
Yeah, that outburst had earned an awkward pause, accompanied with wide eyes and a raised brow. Not a phrase he would have expected to come out of that mouth, though if it was meant to distract the thief, it certainly accomplished that.
…At the attempt to recover, though, another moment of silence passed. Then a small smirk.

Like he was going to let you off that easily. Not one to let that slip-up pass, this thief.
“Oh is that all? Had me worried for a second there. Though either way, I don’t think it’d be in my best interest to give you what you want right now, tantei-kun. I’m already in enough trouble with the law, I think I’ll just keep my ‘diamond’ to myself, thanks.”
