You’re not the only one with a trick or two up your sleeve — the only difference is that I’m not a pain in the ass when I use them.”

“I suppose that’s true… Your ‘tricks’ aren’t quite as showy. So you’ll have to stick with being a pain just from having to prove when other people have made mistakes, then~ Though I should say… you don’t always have to right so often. I’m sure that habit would have gotten on people’s nerves by now, know-it-all chibi~”

Compliments Right… Well then.

“…I can say you’re determined, quick witted, and resourceful, from my experiences with you at heists. Almost a shame I have to have that being used against me most of the time. Almost. Because I do have quite a lot of fun when you come around, bad for the nerves your mind and gadgets may be, tantei-kun~”

It’s a little early, but he hands the thief a small slip of paper that reads: no soccer balls to the face. It’s a weak promise, but he should be glad he got anything from the tiny detective.

Kid blinked, taking the paper from the other with no small amount of caution. For as known for tricks as he was, the thief didn’t exactly have much faith when it came to the chibi giving him anything… And let’s face it, the things that had been given were mostly filled with promises of pain. Or being knocked unconscious. Or, you know, that one time he agreed to a request for help, given very little information along with a cellphone, and then ended up held at gunpoint and almost blown up.

…Yeah, a little wary of Conan giving anything.

But after reading what was written on the note, maybe it was okay this time? It was Christmas, after all…

He smiled and looked back over to the detective, taking a moment to put the paper in a pocket before kneeling down to the other and giving him a small, one armed hug. Best not to push his luck while the other was trying to be nice…. Else he might have picked up the chibi again.

“Thank you, tantei-kun~”

Ignoring the pain in his rear-end and head, he glares bitterly at the teen. “Touch me, and I will end you.”

“Well, someone’s in a sour mood…”

Kaito grinned at the glaring chibi, walking forward casually – though maybe with a touch of wariness as well – until he stood in front of the detective.

“Wonder if some sweetness would do anything to help that~” The magician flicked his wrist, and a candy cane spun on his finger.

Shit————!!

Snicker.

Nice to see someone else fall victim to the evil that is ice, for once~

“Need any help there, kid?”

To say the chibi took the thief off guard would be a bit of an understatement. Honestly, while the small detective looked and acted like a child, he really wasn’t all that childish, most of the time…

…Well, it was definitely preferable to the normal kind of balls the other aimed in his direction.

The snow slid off, and Kid stood there a moment, a little too quiet as a small smile came up.

“…If that’s how you want to play…”

He looked at the other and calmly leaned down to pack some of the snow, grinning wider and standing, taking a moment to toss the newly formed ammunition in his hand up in the air and catch it.

“I’d be more than happy to oblige, tantei-kun~” And with that, the snowball was sent flying at the detective.

”When you fail to escape because you crashed into a tree, you get special treatment.”

He wasted no time in swinging himself under the branch, feet dangling for a moment before he dropped and landed behind the thief. A quick dusting, and he approached the one he had been chasing moments ago. “What are you going to do now that your gilder is ruined? You can’t expect to make it out of here on foot.”

Kid glanced over at the other before making the cape go back to its less rigid shape and slowly getting to his feet. He brushed himself off a bit as well, and adjusted his suit and hat so that they weren’t quite as askew as the rough landing had made them. Really, the glider wasn’t ruined… just needed to be fixed up. Much better than some of the other times when it had actually been broken… Though, there were a few holes in the fabric, so not like the point wasn’t there to be taken…

“I. Did. Not. Crash. There was turbulence. I had to land somewhere… Just because the trees like me more than you do doesn’t mean it was any less of a landing… And I do perfectly fine running away on foot, when a certain chibi isn’t sticking signs to my back…”

littledetective:

”Are you saying it’s my fault?” He’s going to make sure to jostle the hang-glider a bit more violently than intended and hope that he falls head first.

“O-oi, I never said-!”

Well, the shaking worked. One of the edges of the glider slid out from the branches, sending the thief to the ground. No, he didn’t land on his head, meanie chibi, but still. Ow

“Jeeze… Are you vindictive around everyone, or am I just that special…”

littledetective:

Don’t tempt him. It would be so much easier just to pelt a ball at him and hope it loosened the hang-glider from the branches it was wedged between, but he’s in a good mood today and would rather climb up and figure another way around it.

”Moron… Who flies that low in the first place?”

“Not like I was meaning to…”
