britishhsdetectivehakuba:

Hakuba wrapped an arm around his waist to support him, holding him steady and nodded. “If you ever feel uneasy at anytime, I can carry you, and let me know if you start slipping and we’ll stop, alright?” He smiled softly. “I’ll stay with you till what ever this is goes away. I’ll be your legs.”

Well, his feet did still want to slide, but at least now he had a hold that would move with him, rather than having to rely on walls and such. But even if he still felt somewhat unsteady, he was not going to have Hakuba carry him all the way home.

“…Thanks.”

Kaito hugged his detective briefly before shifting so that it would be easier for them to walk, while still keeping a good hold on the other and trying not to put much weight on him.

…Okay, he’d be lying if he said that this didn’t feel silly, since the ground looked the same and was normal for Hakuba… Just not for him. Did feel better to have the support, though.

“If you think you’ll be alright like that.” He smiles softly. “I just don’t want you getting hurt.” He checked the hallways before placing a soft kiss to his forehead. “Let’s head home shall we?”

Kaito finally broke into a smile at the kiss and gave a small nod. It was hard to stay angry when his detective worried and cared about him. The magician carefully moved to have his feet under him again and placed a hand on Hakuba’s shoulder to help him get to standing.

“I’ll be fine. Just have to manage until it goes away.”

Still wished he didn’t have to deal with it, though….

Hakuba looked around before turning so his back was to Kaito. “I’ll carry you home, it doesn’t look like you’ll be able to last the day. Or would you prefer the nurses office?”

Some blinking and somehow even more blushing.

image

“…At this point, I’d rather be at home… but you don’t need to carry me all the way there, Hakuba. Just need a support…”

Hakuba winced a little as the other fell and knelt down in front of him. He wasn’t sure what was wrong with the other, but it was obvious he was not in a good mood. “Are you hurt?” He asked softly, trying not to irritate him more then he already was.

Kaito looked away from his detective, flush growing a tad stronger. He just felt so clumsy and not in control when he couldn’t even trust his feet to keep him up without them just being pulled out from under him.

image

“…Yeah, but it’s mostly just my confidence that’s shot right now…” A dry chuckle. “Can’t even take more than a few steps without almost ending up on my back…” There may also be some bruising by this point, but he really could care less. He should have just stayed home and never gotten out of bed… Would have saved him more trouble…

Hakuba blinks as he watches Kaito inch and cling his way down the hallway. He furrows his brows, wondering if he’s alright, or if this is another prank, before making his way over. “Kuroba, are you alright?”

The magician been so focused on not falling that he hadn’t even noticed Hakuba until he spoke. Which made his efforts a bit pointless as he was startled enough to slip anyway, a small cry of pain escaping him when he hit the ground. This had already happened a fair amount of times today, and it was more than a little annoying.

And embarrassing. Especially looking so clumsy in front of his detective.

No. No he was not all right. This sucked. And Kaito’s Poker Face could only handle so much irritation before he just didn’t care to use it any more.

“Does it look like I’m alright?” he snapped, finally just taking a seat on the ground and crossing his arms in a huff as his face turned slightly red from both having Hakuba see him fall and the general aggravation he was currently feeling.

He grinned and wrapped an arm around his other self’s waist for further support, just in case he needed it.

“Hey, it could’ve been worse. And look at it this way,” he snickered, shooting his double a slightly playful glance. “This could be your chance to actually learn how to ice skate.”

That was true… and he couldn’t say the idea of learning hadn’t crossed his mind when he started getting all of the trouble… But he’d already come to a conclusion on that.

image

“…Even if I could learn how to skate on the ground like this, it would only half be learning how to skate on ice. Might not even help that at all…”

Ice skating had blades. And even going just across ice, there was at least enough traction to let people stop when they got started moving. If he tried that now… he’d likely just end up face first on the ground. Or hit a wall. Whichever came first.

So he didn’t really share the other’s light mood when it came to this. He didn’t like being restricted in what he could do. At least not when it wasn’t set by himself.

He’s just going to watch his other self’s struggles for a little bit longer while casually popping another piece of honey-flavored candy into his mouth. It’s hard not to feel just a tad amused, though.

Even though he knows how so not fun that must be.

“…You need a hand or something?”

Kaito looked across at his doppelganger before slowly making his way over to the other.

A hand? No, just a bit more than that, apparently, because he put an arm around his double’s shoulder as soon as he was able. Made for a nice anchor.

“It’ll go away eventually,” he said, sighing and casting a glance at the candy. Really, why couldn’t he have gotten something as nice as wanting honey…

This magician is not having fun with this. Having to either walk very, very slowly and carefully or cling onto something as he went. This was just as bad as being in an actual ice rink…

Except everywhere.

Yeah. Not fun.
