Shinichi frowned as the other seemed to refuse to talk to him, make any noise at him for whatever reason. Considering the master thief’s line of work he could be dead silent when he wished to be. “I don’t know why you’re like this, KID, but… As much as I may want to I’m not going to force you. You have your reasons and perhaps you’ll tell me when you’re ready. I hope you’ll allow me to sit with you?” Of course he asked this as he was sitting down, eyes forward. KID would talk when he wanted.

He glanced at the detective out of the corner of his eye as the other sat beside him and a nod was given to show that the company was allowed. Really, it was preferred, but the thief still didn’t say a word. After a few moments of staring at the ground, he rested his head on Shinichi’s shoulder and slowly closed his eyes, visibly relaxing.

Pushing KID to do something was never the wisest thing because the thief would do whatever he wanted to do. He was glad the other hadn’t turned him away though, sitting with him in companionable silence. Though suddenly there was a weight on his shoulder and he glanced to the thief with wide eyes and a light flush across his nose.
He relaxed when the master thief did and went back to staring out across the city below. He could… almost get used to this. Though a quiet thief was some what troubling and it made the detective worry.

Kid didn’t really want to move. He did open his eyes after some time, absently staring at the lights moving about on the street. The most recent target was held lightly in his hand. Still not the one he needed…

He pushed his cheek against Shinichi some more, reaching over to place the gem in his hands and letting out a silent breath. His father had searched for years to find Pandora. And he was beginning to wonder if it would take him just as long…

Sunflower, violet, mimosa, orange and red roses, and sycamore. It’s a mixed bouquet, enjoy!

“And enjoy it I shall! ~”

Fingers singled out the roses and carefully lifted them from the bouquet.

“I take it that I can expect you at the next heist, then? I’ll look forward to it, tantei-kun~”

He flushed some and looked away, nodding a bit. He was glad he liked the flowers, to be honest, the nice lady at the flower shop had helped him with the meanings specifically. “You should probably expect me at most of them, now… I’m starting to need the guaranteed lack of blood at your heists.”

If he was a little more honest with himself, especially considering the message the flowers told, it was also because he liked the thief’s company and maybe hoped for a chance to get to know him a little better. But he was sure KID would understand anyway.

The thief’s smile fell slightly. He looked down at the flowers in his hand for a moment before placing them back with the others.

“Hmmm… perhaps I should schedule them more often…” he commented, moving his arms behind his back and leaning towards the detective, the smirk soon returning, “Or maybe just drop in every now and again? Wouldn’t want you to get overwhelmed with your work, meitantei~”

Though the last part was said teasingly, he really did mean it. He liked that Shinichi enjoyed coming, but he wished the detective didn’t have such a dark job that the heists were some of his only breaks from cases…

He knew the detective should have been back home by now, but he’d already checked all of the rooms…

Well, all but one.

The thief silently opened the door to the library, giving an small sigh upon seeing that, sure enough, the teen seemed to be scanning through the shelves.

Doesn’t he ever take a break?

Kid sneaked up behind Shinichi and slid his arms under the other’s, gently squeezing him as he placed his head on the detective’s shoulder.

“Isn’t it a bit late to be doing research, tantei-kun?”

If he didn’t look at the thief the thief couldn’t see his blushing. It wasn’t a logically sound reasoning but even Shinichi wasn’t always a hundred percent logical. Of course that thought was blown out of the water when the white clad magician nuzzled his neck and he stiffened, going brighter still in the face, as he tried not to let out a squeak.

Why did he have to have such a sensitive neck?

“N-no, I suppose it’s not too late for you to be doing anything,” he replied with a slight cough, pretending he hadn’t just stuttered slightly. “I didn’t exactly peg you for the company needing type, at least from detectives.” There was a slight teasing tone in his words once he’d calmed himself a bit, chuckling slightly. “And I’m really not up to much. I just finished some notes on a case I’d been working on and was probably going to read for a little bit.”

He stopped pushing against Shinichi, but still kept his face close to the other’s as he laughed.

“But tantei-kun, detectives like yourself are quite fun to be with. More often than not, I get somewhat bored after finishing heists where you show up.”

The thief leaned in a bit, trying to see the books that were in front of them. Of course most of the ones he could see off hand were mysteries…. What else did he expect from the house of a detective?

“So…. mind if I stay for a while? I’ll try not to disturb your reading.”

❣ (Sorry, the KaiShin shipper in me couldn’t resist)

He knew he shouldn’t be there in his current condition, face seemingly permanently stained red and he hoped he could lie convincingly enough to the thief he asked. He couldn’t help that his hormones had been going a little more haywire then usual, a side effect from the Apotoxin Haibara had told him. This really was the worst time to come to a KID heist.

Maybe he should go, he could likely leave before KID showed up since he seemed to be having fun toying with the Task Force. Turning to go with that decision in mind, he hoped maybe he could actually leave before the thief showed up and he’d have to try and explain his fevered look and uh… physical evidence to what exactly was wrong with the detective.

“I should have never promised I’d try to make it to all of his heists,” he murmured to himself.

A wide grin was plastered on the thief’s face as he made his way up to the roof. It had been difficult to set up, but the trap he’d set had been very much worth it when they tripped it. And it would take quite a while to remove all of those feathers…

He pushed open the door and almost collided with someone who was just beyond it. Reflexes took over and he circled around them instead, taking a step away as the door closed. When Kid noticed who it was, he couldn’t help but smile.

“Ah, tantei-kun~ Glad to see you made.. it….”

His voice trailed off as he leaned in to take a closer look at the detective’s face.

“Oi… are you feeling alright?” The normally confident, teasing voice carried a bit of worry. Though he was happy when the detective came to his heists, the thief would feel guilty if Shinichi came when he might be sick…

He stiffened in his hold, having not expected company. Least of all Kaitou KID. It was only until he heard his voice that he relaxed some and went back to looking through the shelves. No he really didn’t ever take a break and was probably working himself to an early grave, but then justice never really stopped.

He couldn’t help a small chuckle at the question though, leaning his head back some and closing his eyes. “Mm, probably. But isn’t it a bit late for internationally wanted thieves to be sneaking into the house of a detective?” It was odd to think he didn’t mind the thief sneaking into his house. But then KID did what he wanted, when he wanted and damn the rules.

The hugging against him was new, however, and he hoped the flush on his face couldn’t be seen. “Is there something I can help you with tonight, KID?”

Kid smirked. At this range, it was impossible not to notice the other turning somewhat pink. Kinda cute, considering how confident he acted.

“Never to late for a thief to be doing anything,” he said, nuzzling the detective’s neck and holding him a bit tighter.

“Just wanted some company and was curious as to what you might be doing.”
