“I dun think I wanna be part of any performances ya put on, to be honest. Sounds too messy for my tastes.” He looked down his nose at the thief. He knew they were discussing heists, but he felt he might as well add to the double entendre word play. He could be a cheeky devil as well.

Well, so long as they were on the same page.

“Is that so? Then I suppose I was mistaken about you. I had you for the type who doesn’t mind getting a bit dirty… Well, not the worst thing to be mistaken of, all things considered.”

The thief tilted his head slightly, a wide, mischievous grin spreading across his face.

“But let’s face it. That is the sort of impression you can give at times, tantei-han.~ Hard not to hear about the hot-headedness, competitiveness, and general immaturity that you’ve shown at times, even if you might have a few redeemable traits as well…”

Ok, he didn’t think of the Osakan all that badly. But if the other was going to continue, may as well say some things back.

‘wake up’ (sorry, shinichi can’t get enough)

He froze at the voice.

It didn’t match the hollow screams in the chaos surrounding him. It was much clearer, and full of concern. But he knew it didn’t come from any of the formless figures running around him, pulling him back from where he was trying to go.

He knew who it was.

Kid stopped struggling against the force holding him down, eyes falling shut as he relaxed his painfully tense muscles, a slight shaking forming as he breathed in deeply. He knew he needed to calm down. The detective didn’t need to be worry any more than he already was….

As the mental scene faded, he glanced at the arms holding him down before following them up to the face of the one they belonged to, giving the other a small, apologetic smile.

“Sorry… about that… tantei-kun…”
