Kaito had always loved the park. It was usually loud and energetic, with children running around everywhere, groups of friends meeting up to chat by the fountain, and the occasional couples blushing on the benches or underneath the trees. Of course, it could be quiet too, if one knew the best times to drop by. But for now, it was the lively park Kaito wanted.

“It’s been a bit too long since I’ve put on a show here,” he said to himself as he pulled a few juggling balls out of his bag. Kid’s job and school always kept him busy, but Kaito rather liked relaxing once in a while by putting smiles on other’s faces.

He pushed the bag off to the side and started tossing the colourful orbs high into the air for a warm up.

Kid stepped out onto the rooftop, a huge grin spread across his face. Once again, Nakamori-keibu and the rest of the task force had fallen for one of his decoy tricks. From here, could just make out the line of police car lights speeding after a white speck that was the fake glider.

Really, the past few heists had been almost a bit too boring. Not that his work was supposed to be fun, but he missed the added challenge that his various detectives brought whenever they showed up.

I guess I’ve become a bit spoilt, to be wanting people who can anticipate my plans. But it’s just too easy when all I have to do is send a dummy flying and everyone chases after.

He reached into the pocket carrying his most recent target, a tanzanite, and carefully removed it.

So, this is Soul of Iris…

The facets of the gem shined under the moonlight. He turned it around in his hand for a moment before finally lifting it up.

Nothing.

Kid sighed and lowered his arm. No matter how many times it happened, he couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed when the red glow doesn’t appear.

“Oh well. Just means I have to keep looking.”
