She quietly appreciated that he was comfortable enough around her to admit that an old movie like that could make him shed a few tears. She felt the same, but wasn’t sure that she’d ever be given the chance. Madison knew what got her choked up, and tried to avoid it if she could.

”I’d love t’!” She didn’t mind hanging around, even if a quarter of the reason was to be sure Kaito was okay. “Good idea. Both of us cryin’ at the same time might be a mess.”

“Great!”

He carefully pulled himself away to go over to the movie shelf, smile turning more cheerful.

“Action? Comedy? Animated? Live action? Disney? There’s quite a few options, so if you have a preference, tell me.”

She knew it wasn’t right to enter someone’s home without permission, but it was only once she got home that she realized she had left her cellphone behind. Planning a fake heist took a lot out of a girl, and it didn’t surprise her that she had forgotten something at his place.

Luckily for her, he had failed to lock the front door. Slipping in as quietly as she could, she crept towards the living room and got to her hands and knees. It took a little feeling around and peeking under things before she found it.

”Hah, got’ch— Huh?” The creaking of an opened door grabbed her attention, heading turning as she scrambled to her feet. She’d only need to tell him the truth — at least, she would have had she not seen… that.

Eyes wide and cheeks flashing hotly, Madison’s hands flew to her face. Naked. So much wet and n a k e d. Whether or not he had closed the door, she didn’t know. She couldn’t hear it clicking closed over the sound of her profuse apologies.

”I’m sorry! I’m so, so sorry! I’m— Ugh, I was just trying to find my phone!”

“I-it’s fine, don’t worry about it! It was my fault for not being more cautious.”

The magician paused for a moment and grabbed the towel he’d been using, wrapping it around his waist. Though he had no intention of leaving the room right now, he was feeling a lot more self-conscious than he had been earlier…

If his face could possibly get darker, then it did. Another moment of hesitation, and he spoke again.

“Umm… while you’re here… do you think you could… get my clothes? They’re already pulled out, I was just an idiot and forgot them…”

She tried not to giggle at his little hiccup, but it was sort of adorable to see Kaito being anything but confident and cocky. It hadn’t occurred to her that a sad movie could bring him to tears.

Reaching up, she rubbed at the few loose tears that were clinging to his cheek. “I’ve got nothin’ else t’ do. I wouldn’t have minded. Y’ gonna be okay, though?”

He turned slightly pink again when Madison started to wipe his face. At the question, the magician nodded and fell silent for a while, the only sound coming from him being a few more hiccups. It was still a bit embarrassing that she had seen him like this, but, for the most part, he didn’t really mind. He was comfortable enough around her that he didn’t feel he needed to bring up a mask right now…

After a minute, Kaito glanced towards her.

“If you have the time… Do you mind staying to watch something else with me?” A grin. “Nothing too sad, though.”

Madison pulled the brunette in, letting his head rest on her shoulder. There was no point in laughing at him if it had really bothered him that much, not that she would ever laugh at someone that had been crying.

”Y’ should’a told me, I would’a come over and watched it with ya. Cryin’ alone sucks a lot less than cryin’ with someone, at least over a movie.” Unless he was the type that refused to cry in front of others.

She wasn’t afraid to shed a few tears if a movie was to blame, but then she’d cling to him and cry on his shirt and— It wouldn’t be pretty.

The magician gave a small smile and snuggled in a bit more. The tears had stopped, though his face was still wet and…

His head jerked slightly as another hiccup went through.

…that was going to be annoying.

“Well, it was kinda a spur of the moment decision… Wouldn’t want to suddenly call someone over just because I wanted to watch something sad on an impulse…” He closed his eyes and laughed softly. “Though, if I’d known you were coming by anyway, I might’ve waited.”
