“I see you really are new to this area… Or you’re just dull.”

“The Culinary department’s very honor was attacked by Dean Yuri Dragunov of the Applied Sciences department. The two are now locked in a battle of the five senses, and I must say…”

Dogma pushed his glasses up, a devious smile on his face.

  “It is truly a wonder.”

Oh, that wasn’t fair. To come across someone telling him that something interesting was happening, only for them to be making him leave without being able to see it. And he didn’t really seem to trust Kaito at all, if the attitude towards him was anything to go by. Not that it was unwarranted, but most wouldn’t really be surprised that someone who was lost was new to the area, nor would call them an interloper specifically.

Probably wouldn’t help that the magician would come back anyway, after picking up this bit of news.

But it seems like the different sections don’t get along too much… With this and him being glad to push me onto whoever’s in charge of the Agricultural department.

“Oh? Sounds like something that would be fun to see…” He looked back at the man, head tiling, “But why aren’t you at the ‘battle’ yourself? I’d think the teachers would need to be overseeing something like that, right?”

“Dean Nakagane has her own way of handling things. And for an interloper like yourself during such an important time for the Culinary department, I’m sure the punishment would only be worse.”

He was making shit up as he went, Nakagane certainly wouldn’t do more than throw this boy off of campus.

“In the agricultural department you’re his problem, so it’s even better that I just escort you straight to the market.”

His?

The magician debated asking about who the man was talking about, but soon decided against it. If they were going to the department anyway, he’d likely find out later. And though he was getting the feeling the other didn’t really believe he was just some innocent lost teenager, Kaito couldn’t help but wonder about what would be going on that would be considered important….

“Hmm… Guess I really was lucky, then. Something going on that would put her in a bad mood?”

     A likely story, Dogma thought.

“You are on the complete wrong side of campus to be going to the market. This is the culinary department. You’re lucky I caught you rather than Dean Nakagane. You’ll have to take the east tram to get there.”

He pointed towards the loading platform in the distance, adjusting his glasses slightly.

“Just to make sure you don’t lollygag I shall escort you there. You may address me as Doguma-sensei.”

“Is that so? I was waaay off then,” he said, looking every bit as embarrassed as someone who had gotten that lost should have felt.

Kaito looked to where the other was pointing, a small amount of disappointment flashing in his eyes, though he let out a relieved sigh. If nothing was going to happen, it would be better just to leave…. though now he’d gotten himself stuck with who he was guessing was one of the teachers here…

“Sorry for the trouble, Doguma-sensei…”

The magician glanced at the man before starting to head in the direction of the tram.

“Umm…. what would have happened? If the Dean had seen me?”

     He sighed.

This person wasn’t even close to what he was looking for. He was starting to get a little annoyed, though he’d sworn he would take as much time as necessary to find it.

“Aren’t you supposed to be in school, young man? And why aren’t you in uniform? Are you even a Shokusen student?”

If he wasn’t so stubborn, he would have admitted that he should have left some time ago. Cooking and growing food weren’t something he was really interested in, but when he’d overheard some people talking about some of the competitions that had happened between the students here, he couldn’t help but get a bit curious. However, they seemed to be spontaneous, and it looked like his luck wasn’t going to let him see any… Well, if nothing else, it had been a nice walk around the large campus.

Kaito jumped slightly at the voice and turned to the speaker, hiding any surprise he felt under an apologetic smile and quickly started coming up with an excuse. He hadn’t even noticed the man get close…

“Ah… no, I’m not a student here. Was just in the area and heard that this school had its own market in the agricultural department. I was thinking about checking it out, but I may have gotten a bit lost…”
