I feel bad for hating Kaito in the beginning, I’m so glad that I have learned. And all of the characters are so fantastic in how deep they can be… I mean, I love Shinichi more than anything, but he is not perfect, and he’s also not horrible… SOBS

(I’m probably an outlier in the way I think and handle things in this regard. Because at most, going into something normally, I really don’t forms opinions on people easily. Can make observations, yes, but you were to ask whether I like or dislike a character, I’d really mostly be neutral. Now if they’re a fun character, either literally or mentally or both, I’ll gravitate towards them. Seeing as some of my favourite characters in general are Kid in MK, Descole in Professor Layton (though Randall number one), Mephisto Pheles in Ao no Exorcist, Ling from Fullmetal Alchemist… Yeah, give me the eccentric ones that give me a feeling of being deeper than they seem. Makes me form a bit of a bias against people and characters who are seen and seeing things shallowly, just a bit. Might be because I can read characters more than real people. *shrugs* I mean, I’m also the type who can look at a character the first time, see first impressions, and then form a completely different opinion because how they’re written feels like there’s more to it. And don’t watch movies with predictable outcomes, I will guess 80% of them.

I mean, how far I look into something depends on interest, but I don’t form hate all that easily because of things like this.

(And on the guessing personalities and such, mostly in video games there. *sees really helpful, nice character* …I don’t trust you for some reason. *gets backstabbed by that character in story later* Yep. And vice versa. *plays AA for the first time and sees Edgeworth without any knowledge of characters outside of Phoenix and ‘Objection’* Huh… he acts like an ass… I like him. No, I don’t like asshole characters, but I like him. And then five minutes into Professor Layton Miracle Mask being the first Layton game I ever played and all I knew was there would be puzzles: ’…This guy is the Masked Gentleman isn’t he? …Yep, fairly certain of it game, but go ahead, keep trying to convince me it isn’t possible. It’s obvious.’)

Basically, I’m weird and can’t just look at a character and be bias in ignorance. I think that’s the gist of what I was saying. And I usually love the ones I do start looking into anyway.)

2, 5, 12!

(2 done, soooo….)

5. Have you ever RP’d with someone simply because of their character’s faceclaim, even if you did not like their character’s personality?

(Well, considering I’m open entirely to rping with any character, I’ve never really had any issues with a character’s personality before… Considering my own two muses are at opposite ends of the personality spectrum, nothing really fazes me there. Very few faceclaims that didn’t match the character, either, because most are canon characters from somewhere. And then there’s the fact that those with more troubling personalities that I’ve seen either I don’t know the canon character, or they weren’t using FCs. So basically, no, faceclaims don’t really influence who I’ll RP with. I’d still largely be dealing with the character as a whole, not how they look.)

12. What’s your biggest pet peeve when it comes to the fandom you RP in?

(Really… Hmm… *is honestly trying to think of how best to encompass everything* Blinders? I’ll admit to being guilty of it myself at times, but it seems like people like to focus and throw love on characters and then throw hate at others without ever really thinking about everything about both ones they like and don’t? It’s a general fandom thing really, but I see it a lot in DC especially. Maybe because there’s so many characters, people just don’t look too far into them.

(Sorry, rambly and got out of hand, so I’m hiding the rest.)

For example, I get irritated (and with complete and utter bias, I might add) when people hate on Kid when he shows up in Detective Conan. I understand if people aren’t happy because it adds nothing to the plot, but really, how many normal cases do? Sorry if you didn’t get a murder for one case. But more because people hate without knowing the characters, like if they only know Kid though DC and hate on him. No. You may hate, but at least know more about the guy than just ‘the thief who comes in, causes trouble and brings a crowd, then leaves’. Same goes for if you think a character is perfect and ignore flaws. Like a character, hate a character, that’s fine, but this fandom in particular seems to have people that will bite and insult peoples opinions on who they like and dislike. Some don’t, but the ones who do aren’t pleasant and don’t bring much argument to back them up. Kid, Haibara, Shinichi, Akai, Sera, all the popular characters are fun, yes, but far from perfect. I don’t know, they just tend to get idolised so much.

It applies to ideas too, like Kid’s ‘no one gets hurt policy’. (Kaito rper, Kaito argument, yes.) If you take off those blinders for a minute, look around, that doesn’t exist. I know I’ve probably said too much about it, but lets face it, Kid is one of the worser ones it hits. Kaito has hurt people, Shinichi’s moral code isn’t the best, Akai as awesome as he is has made mistakes, Ran is more than a little insecure about some things as strong as she is, Hakuba isn’t just a prick who shows up to make people angry (he’s a prick who shows up to make people angry by proving them wro– I mean *cough*).

I’ll give it to rpers and many fic writers who don’t look at a character shallowly, but many only look at one, maybe two of their favourites in any kind of depth, and ignore qualities of others. Like I said, a general thing, but it does bug me.

Or for a minor thing, people thinking Kaito is a Detective Conan only character, though that’s changing with the new anime somewhat, I still get the feeling people are like: Oh, that guy from DC is getting his own show? No, Magic Kaito is getting it’s own show, he’s not just in DC and just-

I get it. It’s ignorance. But really, I read DC first, I liked Kid, I looked up Kid, and found he had a manga with very little effort. And I became a fan of that manga. It wasn’t hard to know he isn’t a DC character only. So it bugs me. Possibly irrationally, bu it does.)

“And just how do you explained the jeans? Or polo shirt with the popped-collar? Or the little hair flip that you did?”

“I’m sor~ry, was it not as prim and perfect as you wanted, tantei-san~?”

Not going to talk about the clothes. That was for maneuverability, dealing with guys who had guns and he needed to be able to run. But he was not getting flack for that hair flip!
