The thief grins and makes a rose appear for the detective.

“Thank you~”
Nope. He’s in thief mode. No blushing. Not at all. Hopefully…

(Wait, I use figurative language? Huh… *literal first thought right here*
Thank you! ❤ *hugs*)
“Again, it’s appreciated, regardless.” Hakuba laughed, voice still nervous in tone as he sat up again. It wasn’t as though he mistrusted the thief, either, but as flirtatious as they were, there had never really been any sort of define the relationship discussion.
He reached for the duvet at the end of the bed, exposing his naked back briefly, then dragged it around himself to preserve some sense of modesty as he slipped from the bed, heading for the closet.
“Now be a gentleman and turn around."
The thief chuckled some at the command.

"Implying that I’m somehow not a gentleman?”
He did comply, however, shifting to face away from the other. Not that he wouldn’t have turned anyway. After all, Kid was already a gentleman, so of course he would have been courteous enough to not look, right?
Right.
…Maybe.
Honestly, much as he liked to tease, Kid did try and stay within boundaries. Push them from time to time as needed and when he knew he could get away with the pushing, but this wasn’t the best situation to do that. Hakuba already felt awkward, and it really would be rude to purposefully heighten that feeling right now. Especially since he was the one who’d come uninvited and he didn’t know Hakuba well enough to be aware of how far the limits were.
Heck, the thief wasn’t even aware of all that he’d put up with himself, where the detective was involved, much less how far the other would tolerate… Teasing was normal, and the flirting, fun… and he did like the other teen well enough now, considering he’d calmed down quite a bit since the first time they’d met. He just… really wasn’t sure about much else at this point.

“Hmm…. Not sure, honestly. In general, she’d like me to give an actual full confession to someone (with a lot of comfort, cuddling, and possible scolding at him trying to do so much on his own, I might add), but that honestly might happen too many times for it to be the ultimate. Depending on what happens with everyone.”

“But if we go more wishlist type for a scene, I know there’s something she really wants to try…. She just won’t tell me what it is…. So I’m not entirely sure it would go under the "best rp ever” making scene…“

“Well…” Hakuba said, laughing with wincing smile. “Considering that I find myself to be quite naked, I can’t imagine where I’d be handing handcuffs; I do believe that you’re safe, Kaitou-san.”
He cleared his throat with a tiny cough into his fist, and glanced to his closet. “Though, if… if you do wish to stay- and it would be welcomed, I assure you -I should really get dressed. I wouldn’t want to make things any more awkward than they already are. And, incidentally…” He turned back to him, biting his lower lip hopefully. “…if you could avoid mentioning this little incident, I would… appreciate it.”
"Wasn’t exactly handcuffs that I was worried about…”
It was a silly paranoia, really. He was more worried about the possibility of being unmasked more than being physically captured. Even if Hakuba knew the thief was his classmate, and wasn’t likely to do anything like that outside of a heist, …if he would even do it then…, Kid couldn’t help but be wary. He held the detective in high regard, but the caution that had built up wasn’t going to disappear anytime soon.
“…But thank you. I think I will stay.”
He smiled at the other a moment before before he shifted, moving his arms back to lean on as he closed his eyes.

“And it’s not like a thief has many people he can tell, so no worries about that, tantei-san.~”

“Really? I wouldn’t have guessed… You are rather fun to chase, you know.” Hakuba laughed, shifting in the blankets to roll onto his side, head propped up on his elbow so he could watch Kid in leisure. Of course, it was then that he remembered his lack of clothing. Oh. And Kid had pulled up the covers, clearly, as he never slept with them quite so high on his shoulders…
Oh.
He blushed, turning his head away to glance toward his nightstand, feigning the need to look at the time. It served as some sort of reassurance, anyway, but did not ease the color on his cheeks. What to do?
"Are you… planning to stay?”
The thief managed to hold back a laugh of his own at the other turning away. Colours might not be well seen at night, but it’s hard to ignore a darkening face.

“Hadn’t been planning on it,” he answered, shrugging slightly, “Just wanted to check in with you. But it’s not like I have any particular reason to have to leave either, so if you wanted me to… I wouldn’t mind staying.”
He tilted his head and grinned, tone becoming more teasing.
“Just so long as you wouldn’t try to catch me while I’m here, tantei-san.~”
A part of him was still hoping this was a literal nightmare. That the time since the heist on that rainy night never actually happened. Never saw that accursed mask, nor spoke with the one behind it. Never met his on. Never learned everything.
At least then he wouldn’t be hurting so much right now.
He’d anticipated the chance the man wouldn’t listen. Nightmare had been working with and manipulating criminals for so long, it was inevitable that some of the darkness had grown too much, that he was too desperate to achieve his goal. Why should he listen to the words of a thief telling him to stop?
But the voice of the boy who was the reason behind Nightmare echoing though the building /did/ catch the thief off guard. And, apparently, the one aiming a gun at him.
Even with being in danger himself, it wasn’t until the man started to fall that he felt his heart stop. He didn’t need to think. Not about the gun, the fact that someone he cared about had been threatened by the other, that he’d killed people who had worked with him before, just because they learned his name.
He didn’t deserve death.
Finger wrapped tightly around the other’s hand. The sound of the gun hitting the ground below could barely be heard over the sound of blood rushing through his ears and his heart pounding in his chest. He strained to keep his grip on both the man below him and the broken railing beside him, knowing that there was a good chance he could be pulled over as well. If he could just convince the stubborn fool to let go of the opals and grab on with the other hand, then maybe-
His blood turned cold as he felt the glove slide off, eyes widening as he could only watch, helplessly, while the the man fell, cringing when his body hit the floor and blood started to pool behind his head.
There was no time to think, however. People were coming. The police, the detective, and…
Pain tore through him when he saw the boy, and he quickly brought up his card gun and took aim below.
A child, so much like himself in some ways, did not need to know that his father, whom he had admired so much and aspired to be like, was the very detested crime planner he was supposed to be stopping.
Especially not if there was a possibility of him learning /why/ Nightmare existed in the first place…
He fired the gun, knocking the mask of the criminal away to leave the man who had cared so much about his son that he had gone too far down into darkness.
The ace of spades.
How fitting, to mark the end of Nightmare.
But there was no humour in the thought. Not much thinking at all, really. As soon as he’d shot, the thief turned away and ran, jumping back into the sky from where he’d come in. Once he’d gotten a fair distance away, he lowered his head.
Coward.
All he could do was escape. He couldn’t do anything to help, couldn’t even face the boy whose life had just been broken. Broken like his was so long ago.
Except this time, if anyone was too be blamed for the death, it was him. If he’d just acted like the selfish criminal and not gotten involved, ignored how much they’d reminded him of his experiences, or had managed to convince the man to think of his own life at that moment…
When he finally managed to get home, the thief barely remembered to even lock the door before making his way to his room in a daze. He just wanted to sleep. Fall into an oblivion where he didn’t have to think about what had happened that night. It wouldn’t last long, and he’d have to face it again in the morning. Or afternoon. Whenever he felt he’d be able to get up again.
But for now, he climbed onto the bed, only removing his hat before pulling a pillow over to curl around, not even caring about being in full costume as his mind faded into welcome nothingness.
It was the lack of cold that woke the detective, who rolled over sleepily at the sudden presence of warmth. “Mm…?” Hakuba asked of the dark, vision slowly coming into focus after blinking, then stifled a yawn.
He’d spent most of the night running, as he often did during Kaitou Kid heists, but it was the waiting up afterward that had really sapped the energy from him. It was so difficult to wait and worry, wondering if he’d receive any word that his friend and classmate had made it back safely. Even after having his safety confirmed, there was always that little chance that he might come to pay him a visit…
…but on nights like this, when the moon dipped behind the cityscape, Hakuba admitted defeat, showered, and crawled into bed. After all, the lack of visitors meant that he could dry off and sleep at the same time, without worry for modesty or the secret of the scars that marred his back.
So it was a surprise to find Kid there, smiling, body framed by the evening light in the window. He managed a smile in return, lifting a hand to rub the sleep from his eyes, and carefully pushed up onto his elbows while staying covered.
“Still alive, I see…” Hakuba said, voice soft. “I waited for you."
The smile only grew wider as Hakuba stirred. Though he hadn’t meant to wake the other, Kid couldn’t deny that seeing the sleepy detective tugged at his snuggle urges… Might not be the best feeling to act on right now…

“…I’m not exactly the easiest to kill, tantei-san.”
A small, silent sigh and a pause. Then, the thief moved to sit on the corner of the bed, resting an elbow on his knee, head propped up on his fingers as he continued to look at the other.
“Apologies for not coming sooner. Some people decided to play tag for longer than I expected.”

“Yes~”
