Might be a little hesitant, but he does accept the desserts, despite his misgivings about what’s happened in the past. Overall, the detective was good about things involving criminals… And maybe he should feel flattered that the other had so much faith in his abilities that he needed to resort to more questionable actions… Yeah… or not so much, but he’s willing to have a bit of trust outside of heists and any unexpected requests.
Grumbles, “Look, I didn’t have the time to let you in on every little detail, and I knew you’d be fine. You’ve manage to wiggle your way out of trouble before, what made this any different?”
“Maybe because I usually know when to expect to be shot at or be met with bombs? Even if I wasn’t, I didn’t exactly need your problems to get tossed on me for an easy ‘get out of dodge’…”
“Soccer balls, yes, but I think some of us are still recovering from that train incident…” Or for movie canon, the whole ‘pretend to fall off a building to dart the thief in midair while he’s gliding’ plan…
”You made it out alive, I don’t see what the big deal is.”
“…You could at least be a little more apologetic about nearly getting a thief blown up for who knows why…”
Kid grinned as he accepted the treat, giving a word of thanks himself before his counterpart caught him off guard slightly. There may have been a slight pout, but it largely got covered by the smile that broke though it. The thief had missed his other self being more playful like that.
He looked at the gift, considering, before turning to the magician again. The kiss will be returned later, for now…
“…You know… If I had to guess, I think there’s enough here to share. If you’d like to~”
…Well, if the cookies themselves hadn’t been a nice surprise, the meaning behind them made him pause to blink at the detective. He intruded often enough in costume, so may be a bit confused as to why Hakuba would be shy… But a smile soon came up as he took one.
“If you’re really so curious, you should stop by heists more often.” He takes the dessert, though, smiling at the other. “Not all of them, of course, but you’re going to be hard pressed to find anything out if you don’t~”
